The building is indeed centrally location in the walled city. The service is excellent: Clara, the administrator, was there late at night to receive us and hand the keys, and Indira, the maid, pleased our requests and even went to the market to get groceries for breakfasts. Considering that it takes 57 steep steps to get to the apartment in the third floor, Clara had someone to help us bring the suitcases up and down.
However, its priviledged location becomes its only weakness: the noise. We were there for New Year's Eve, which is by definition noisy. It is surrounded by rooftop lounges. The windows in the apartment provide no noise reduction. The only way we could sleep was with ear plugs.
Additionally, while the apartment description states it sleeps 8, in the larger room there was a queen bed and an additonial twin bunk bed. We managed to accomodate the younger members of the family in the available beds, nonetheless.
I strongly recommend this place to young groups who want to visit Cartagena to party.

The apartment is lovely! There is a bit of wear and tear, as previous reviews have stated. The apartment for the most part did appear as the pictures are shown online (minus those wear and tear issues - kitchen cabinets need some adjusting, door handles need tightening). The balcony and the views are gorgeous, however, we did not have the umbrella or dining set outside as pictured.
It was very clean. All bathrooms were spotless. Our housekeeper, Valary, was fantastic! She came each morning and prepared a traditional Colombian breakfast for us. Upon check in she asked what we liked and we gave her the money and she did all of the shopping, returning the next morning with what she needed to cook for us. She came each day to clean which is also nice for a vacation rental. Again, as previous reviews state Valary speaks no English so google translate became our best friend.
The location is fantastic! The music is LOUD, which is clearly stated in other reviews, as well as the description provided by the host, Herve. If this is a problem for some, use the ear plugs provided! They work like a charm, and it is worth the minor irritation to stay here for the central location and views.
I also have to agree with another review warning about the number of steps up to the unit. This was not a problem for us, but may be for some with some mobility issues or those not in great shape. Those views for us were worth every one of those 57 steps to the apartment! The AC worked great! We never had a problem with AC, nor a problem with hot water.
*Also of note during these time of Covid, there is a lab located on the second floor in case you need testing prior to returning to your country. You don’t even have to leave the building for testing. This makes it SO convenient. (Again, thank you to our housekeeper for pointing this out to us).
The host is fantastic and very responsive!
I would DEFINITELY recommend this rental for anyone wanting to stay in a perfect location in Cartagena!

Amazing roof top in the heart of Cartagena‘s bustling historical centre. You can look down onto terraces of several bars that play music until 2AM.
Stylish living area and nice master bedroom on the top floor. However, the quality of the other rooms is quite poor as very small and no real window in one of them.

We had a great stay, huge property, wonderful location. Only two things are that you are so close to the action that the local club music can be loud all night and lastly there was almoat no hot water (its 90 outside so we didnt mind it). I will definitely stay here again.

The beds listed are not accurate. Bedroom three is not a king with 2 singles but rather a queen with 1 single. This bedroom is also missing a window in the bathroom making the property unsafe and unsecure for guests.
Several flights of stairs and the master bedroom is on the roof. Very difficult to get luggage into the property.
Now getting to the noise. Please don’t be fooled by the reviews stating the noise wasn’t a problem. The bars open around 5PM and close around 5AM. And this was on a Wednesday. When the music started it was 80 decibels inside the property. The roof top terrace was worse. It was so loud that the rooms vibrated from the sound and it was impossible to speak to someone sitting next to you. The property owner and manager are fully aware of the extremely loud roof top bars surrounding the property and that his guests will have trouble sleeping because of it. The property manager joked as she walked out saying “I hope you can sleep with the noise from the bars”. When I tried to contact the owner to discuss he didn’t respond. I left as no one from our group could sleep. He responded several days later and did not refund our money. This is a scam. He will keep your money if you leave and VRBO will not be of any assistance if you book here. Don’t believe the reviews that the sound is okay, they are false…don’t stay here.

This property was perfect for my group (25-30 year olds). Stairs weren't an issue, the noise wasn't an issue, but both could be for some people. Communication was perfectly fine even with the language barrier. There was more than enough hot water in the home. Cleaning lady was amazing, she even folded everyone's clothes. Overall I would recommend this place if you are trying to stay in Centro and dont care about the noise.

The apartment is beautiful and the location is right in the middle of Cartagena. The noise from the neighbors though is pretty extreme. There are three outdoor bars next door, music is very loud and doesn’t stop until late at night. Don’t expect to use the beautiful roof terrace after 9pm, it’s impossible to talk. Inside is a little better, but not much. Earplugs are provided and you won’t be able to sleep without them.
This would be a five star apartment anywhere else, but the extremely loud music make it difficult to enjoy the place…

The property is very nice, very clean and good service from the housekeeper. The only problem is that is about 20 feet from the hottest night club in Cartagena. The loud music from the rooftop bar goes until 2:30 in the morning. We were 6 adults, 4 of us in our 60s. To say the least, we wanted a good nights sleep after enjoying the sights, and especially the food, of Cartagena.
This would be a perfect spot if you are into partying. Nevertheless, the location is outstanding!

The apartment was great and the rooftop was WOW! My husband and I stayed there with our 4 year old and the location was perfect because it was right in the center of town so it was super convenient. We visited Colombia to attend a wedding and it turns out that the church was literally around the corner and 2 blocks from us and the wedding reception was directly across the street from us. It was a very happy and convenient coincidence.
All other comments in the reviews were accurate. It is in the center of everything so it is very loud. The clubs out there act like they’re all competing on who can have the loudest music and they blast their music until 1 or 3 am in the morning depending on if it’s a weekday or weekend. There are no noise restrictions in Colombia apparently so the nights there are VERY LOUD. Thankfully, the owner provided ear plugs. You WILL need them so that was a nice touch. There is also no elevator, but it’s only 3 flights of stairs so if you don’t have health issues and not a lot of luggage, you should be fine. We only had our carry-ons and handbags.
The biggest reason for my 5-star review aside from the prime location, and pretty apt is the staff. What a great staff! The lady comes by every day to clean and she makes breakfast for you if you want. It’s included in the price of your stay so all you have to pay for is the groceries, plus she shows you the receipt to show how much was spent. They really went out of their way to make us feel at home. One of the gentlemen that works in the building even walked me to the ATM so that I wouldn’t walk alone and get lost. Another staff member showed us how to use the tv remote. They suggested places to visit. They were just the greatest group of people and i am so thankful they were there!

Let me just start off by saying this, I don’t ever want to write anything negative. The property was nice and we had a great rooftop, but be prepared to walk up 50 winding stairs with your luggage. Also if you want peace and quiet this place is not for you. It is surrounded by all the bars and clubs so you hear their music blasting until 3am. The streets below are VERY LOUD. We are all in our 30s so the noise didn’t bother us a ton but it was hard to fall asleep. We enjoyed the rooftop the most. Even though part of the lights were out so it was hard to see at night. The lady who comes every day to do towels, clean, etc would come and be there for 2 plus hours cooking herself meals, making coffee and making herself right at home by turning on the TV. Meanwhile our group would be all there, it was very awkward. Not to mention our showers were all freezing cold. This is a nice place but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Pre-arrival communication was excellent and efficient with Herve. We were also 24 hours delayed and the on-the-ground team were very flexible and accommodating over check in, which was super easy. Clara and Ms. Luz only really speak Spanish, although Goggle Translate combined with Whatsapp worked fine! The property was exceptionally clean. The bedrooms are all spaced out and have en-suite which makes for great privacy when travelling with friends / several couples. Decent sized living area and table for 6-8 + an ENORMOUS terrace with those stunning views so plenty of communal space. Kitchen was well stocked with equipment and there are 2-3 basic mini markets within a block for supplies. Wi-Fi was patchy and worked well on one side of the communal area and in one bedroom (it was good enough for 2 of us to be on zoom calls simultaneously – it dropped occasionally but this was probably to do with the overall internet in Cartegena versus the set up in the apartment); wi-fi signal struggled elsewhere in the apartment. The location of the apartment is in the real “party ally” of Cartagena and there are two rooftop bars within spitting distance of the main floor of the apartment. So the noise was real and lasted until 3am. In total fairness, we knew this before we booked . . .it proved a challenge only because we were trying to remote work (we took a gamble!). In hindsight therefore, probably not the best property for remote work . . .but if it’s vacation you’re after and want to be in the middle of the action, this property is perfect and makes a refreshingly contemporary alternative to many of the other options in the walled city. Thanks to Herve, Clara and Ms. Luz for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable!

Great apartment.
Amazing location, that is the biggest plus.
Apartment comes with a sweet housekeeper (Luz) who will clean everyday and cook if you'd like.
It's not a super fancy place, but is great for a small group. 3 flights of stairs, no elevator.
It is VERY loud in the morning. If you want a quiet stay, definitely stay in a nice hotel.
The rooftop has a great view, no pool/hot tub.
Overall, very pleasant stay.

Awesome Stay in Cartagena
We had a wonderful stay in Cartagena. Herve was responsive in every need and followed up accordingly. The apartment was as advertised and centrally located in the old city. The biggest positive hands down in the duplex is Doña Luz! She is amazing person with integrity and trust. ! She made breakfast for us every morning, helped out with laundry and our daily needs and kept the place in tip top shape. Her handmade arepas are to die for. Truly made our vacation reach another level.
There are a couple opportunities with the rental: Wifi was challenging to deal with, slow moving between rooms and floors. Not sure if its due to the old structure of the building or the sheer amount of people visiting Cartagena. In addition, noise at night was extremely loud due to the two clubs directly adjacent to the property and nightlife. The music starts around 6pm and finishes at 3am. We planned ahead and brought earplugs to sleep. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return in the future.

In The Heart of The Walled City
The property is beautiful and the location is central to everything. The rooftop is amazing. It was kept very clean and everything worked properly. We had no complaints with the property. Understand, however, that it is very close to two discos and the music the extremely loud until 2 am. But that is not the fault of the owner or the property. It’s just what you get if you stay in the middle of town. Another huge bonus was that there is a clinic in the building where you can get a covid test, which we needed to return to the United States. I must say that the property itself is perfect and I’d stay there again.

Both of our money were tucked away in the room. The maid was the only one with access to the flat. I contacted Herve to make him aware of it, he said they never had this issue before and will install a lock box for future guests.

It is in the heart of the nightlife scene so it is very loud at night, but we’re from NYC so it didn’t bother us. Herve’s communication was great and he was accommodating and allowed us to have an early check in.

Super Clean
Another review described the property as exactly as the pictures add a bit of wear and tear. I agree the property does have a bit of wear, but no so much that I would not return. The party from the neighboring clubs does not end until around 1 or 2 AM, this was not a problem for us as we are a youngish couple with older teens that love to stay awake. The spacious rooms and many baths make this a great spot a friend vacay. Or if you are a more modern family like ours the music every night was a hit. Now to the best part and I feel awful that I never got the woman's name who came in each day to clean and make breakfast. She was the absolute BEST part of the trip. I can not say enough about how clean the place was kept and I am OCD about things being clean. All and all great place to stay!

Good bang for your buck
Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Food was great house keeper was amazing, she even helped me when I got sick. The apt is very nice looks like the pictures just add wear and tear so there’s no surprises. Location is perfect it’s the center of the city. I would book again. WARNING. If you are out of shape I would book this location because you will be doing a lot of stair climbing

Herve was an excellent Host. Very responsive and understanding man. I'm not the easiest to work with. Herve was very fair, communicative and accommodating.
The service lady Luz was on top of everything. She was very helpful and nice. Any requests we made, she was there to get them done. Nice women!
The unit was spacious! AC in all rooms worked well.
The kitchen was open space to the living area, great to gather in. Kitchen could use some upgrades to the utensils & cookware.
Kitchen area allows the music from nearby restaurants and clubs, which we enjoyed as it adds culture to the stay!
The rooftop was simple beautiful specially at sundown. Loved the evenings and outdoors shower.
We bought a blow up pool for a little wet fun.
Location was outstanding! Everthing with in a few feet or short minutes away.

Home away from home
The property was awesome! Very clean. Very modern rooms, furniture, kitchen, and bathrooms. Just about everything we needed for a relaxing get away from home. I personally spent plenty of time relaxing on the rooftop terrace in the hammock enjoying the wonderful weather and views.
The maid was awesome and we opted in to have her prepare breakfast every morning which was amazing! She also washed clothes for us.
As some previously mentioned, the property is near two rooftop bars, and they keep the music pumping all night. Wasn't a much of problem for us though as the music and nightlife is one of the things we came for anyways and I can personally sleep through a hurricane. Just something to be aware of if you are a light sleeper and looking for something a little quieter. Otherwise bring earplugs.
Overall we couldn't have asked for much more out of a property and stay and if/when we head back for another visit we will certainly be looking to book this property again!

This is where you want to stay in Cartagena
This rental occupies the top two floors of a beautiful old building. The building is in the heart of the action of Cartagena. Close to the main sights, bars, restaurants, churches, squares and shopping. Sure, as it's right upstairs from a nighclub, with two more a few doors down, and a half dozen more within a 2 block radius, it is loud at night. But being a group of friends looking to relax for a few days, that suited us fine. You can't beat the location.
The accommodations are better in person than in the pics. The rooms are well appointed and the decor is first rate. Three full bedrooms - each with an en suite. Plus a half bath near the kitchen. (and even a spare bathroom on the rooftop!)
It's clean when you arrive and since the cleaning staff come by daily, it will remain that way.
But you'll probably spend more of your time on the rooftop terrace, with it's sweeping views of the Old City. One small quibble is that the patio umbrella can't go up in the wind. And since you're right by the sea, it's pretty windy all the time. As such, there's no shade on the terrace in the afternoon, which can be hot. But in the mornings, on calmer days and in the evenings, the terrace is just about the nicest place in the city to sip a drink.
Some may complain that you won't get much hot water in the top floor shower. It's not cold. But it's not hot either. But I didn't mind, after a long day of sight-seeing in the heat, it was nice to cool off. But if you want a hot shower, there are two showers on the main level with plenty of hot water.
Management provided excellent service and communication prior to and throughout the stay.
When I come back to Cartagena, I'm staying here again.

Heart of walled city - Private Rooftop
This beautiful apartment is part of a limited service building and this unit features a private rooftop offering amazing views by day and night. Yes - the adjacent clubs are loud but we viewed it as having a DJ on our private rooftop which is actually higher than them! Yes there are steps, but this isn't a hotel out of town, but instead walking distance of everything you want to be near. The owner is very available, responsive and accommodating. Both Clara, the manager, and Luz, the daily attendant are also helpful and can provide local insights.

The apartment was awesome
Our stay at the apartment was awesome. Luisa was amazing and she made us breakfast everyday at our request. She is an excellent cook. You could either go to the store which is open 24 hours and buy what you want or give her a list and she will hey it for you and bring back your receipt. She only speaks Spanish and thank goodness for us, one of our friends spoke fluent Spanish, so that made it easy for us to communicate with her. She also cleaned and made our rooms up everyday giving us fresh towels. That was a plus to come back to our rooms after a long day out and our rooms were cleaned up as if we were in a hotel.
The only downside to the apartment which really depends on where you are in your life is, the night clubs and bars are literally across the street . Like you could through a rock or request a drink from the bartender that’s how close it was. And on Wednesday-Friday the party is in the downstairs rooms. If you are super young and love to party it is perfect for you.
We didn’t mind as we were there to celebrate a birthday. But in the am it is so relaxing and Serene. We had our coffee on the upstairs terrace, it has an amazing view. Now I will say it is a ton of stairs to get to the apartment there are 57 stairs in total just to get to the front door and if you are staying in the master suite there is another 15 plus stairs to get to that room. Hey at least you will have amazing legs once your trip is complete.
Overall this was an awesome stay and very clean place and seriously in the heart of it all. You will not have a dull moment in Cartagena! I would definitely stay at this apartment again.

Perfect location. Beautiful rooftop view.
We enjoyed the space. It was cleaned daily. Breakfast made every morning.
Sure it's loud at night since it's next to clubs but you're in the heart of the action.
We would rent again.
