Once I received my key and checked in I went to the lobby for additional information and check in. That’s when the older gentleman at the front desk was extremely rude when asking more questions about parking and where the room is located. Super fun property - it fit our family of 6 easily with room to spare. Accommodations were clean and comfortable. The views were amazing. We had a great time and would DEFINITELY return. The pool on site was great as well, shuttle services were convenient and there is tons to do for the adventuring type all around.

Very close to Sugar Mountain Ski resort and other resoruces to include grocery store and resturants. Pool, hot tub and sauna were all excellent after a full day on the slopes.

It has nice views but the WIFI never worked, the fireplace was locked up and the place was freezing even with the heat turned up. Bring extra towels if you plan to use the hot tub there were only 4 towels. The indoor pool was also closed which management never informed us of and it will be until the 19th. You will need to bring blankets, towels, and pillows which defeats the purpose of a condo. Had we known the pool closed, fireplace locked, and WIFI would not be working we would have stayed somewhere else. I was on a work trip with no service the entire time, and my kids were really disappointed the pool was closed. Management needs to communicate these things before they charge you for the room.

The place has a cute design but it is super old. Finding a location was challenging, especially if you check in after hours. The parking is far from the building and you have to take a shuttle every time. The shuttle is very quick tho but still an extra unnecessary step. There was no shampoo or lotion and they wrote in their instructions that they charge for extra towels! They gave us a wrong password for the WiFi. We called the lobby and also the managers for the WiFi password but no one was able to help us. I had to call to get my $400 refund.

They listing was inaccurate. They stated that the unit has a king size and a queen size bed. It had a king but didn’t have a queen. The other bed was a full size at best. The other couple staying with us said they were falling off the bed all night long. The king bed was very uncomfortable as well. You have to drop your car off in a parking lot then take a shuttle up to the hotel. If you have a lot of stuff to carry this is very inconvenient. The wifi did not work. The heat in the unit did not work either we had it set at 80 degrees, and still woke up freezing. Also the check in office is not at the motel. We drove all the way up to the motel just to be told we have to turn around, and go to the check in office a few miles away. Yes they tell you that in the email the send you, but it’s still very inconvenient. The only reason it got two stars instead of one is because the view is nice. I’d highly recommend finding somewhere else to stay in Sugar Mountain.

The unit was a comfortable although outdated. The fan for master bedroom fan and lights was not in the unit which was unfortunate. Parking a bit intense but shuttle convient and quick.

The shuttle is a bit inconvenient, especially if you are back and forth to the condo a lot, but it does run constantly and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. The condo needs a little work - carpet tacks got me every time I walked to/from master bath & mold under the faucet in both tubs.

We loved everything about this property. It was quiet, balcony had amazing view and it was well maintained. Our only qualm was that it wasn't listed anywhere on the VRBO listing that you have to get the keys from the rental place BEFORE you go up to the condos. We got checked in at the front desk of the condominiums and found out that we had to go back down the mountain to the management place to get keys. It was annoying but after that, it was smooth sailing. We found out later that it was in the rental agreement that they send you. Minor inconvenience but just a heads up if you rent this place.

The unit was in great shape for us at check in. Not all the lights in the second bedroom worked., but all else was fine The only problem was as reported by an earlier guest, checking in on the weekend after hours was a problem for us. Since I had read that comment prior to arriving, I called just to be sure of the procedures as I would be checking in on a Saturday around 6 pm and was assured that there would be a package with the key at the reception. However, the person didn't make it clear to me that she meant the Realty sales office not the resort. The resort reception desk nor the security at the resort had no record of my arrival or information about the key. Fortunately, I learned from another resident that I needed to go back down the mountain to the sales office to pick up the key in a mail box as the office was closed . The owner later informed me that the after hours procedures are llisted in the rental agreement, which they are. So, I recommend to any future renters to reread the agreement prior to arrival.

The drain for the shower/tub in the MBR was so clogged that I couldn't use it. The plywood valance in the MBR was ripped off the wall and parked in a corner of the MBR. The carpet install was incomplete so that when you walked from the bedroom carpet to the bathroom tile, you walked across carpet tacks -- real pleasant in the middle of the night. The wall paper was pealing off in the Master Bath. A lot of the track lighting had burned out bulbs I couldn't reach. Are these places inspected by anyone? Are there are standards that owners need to adhere to? I knew nothing about the mandatory shuttle system to the remote parking lots - which got old in a real hurry. And the van drivers rarely wore face masks. I rented it for a month and after a few weeks, couldn't stand it anymore and left. Loved the Sugar Mountain area. But SugarTop has all the class of a high-rise trailer park. Hated the unit I rented. Seriously outdated -- unless you're into a John Travolta, Saturday Night Fever, 70's look.

The views were so beautiful and the staff were all helpful and friendly! Only complaint was having to ride a van back and forth to our was a bit of a hassle. The staff driving were great, but it was an inconvenience every time we wanted to come and go. But the views made it worth it!

Everything was exactly as advertised in the description of the unit but what was not conveyed and was an added bonus was not only how clean and fresh everything in the unit was, but the extra nice tile work that was done to the unit and the custom cabinetry and woodwork added was a great touch. We have stayed in several different units in Sugar Top over the years and all have been nice, but this one was definitely the one with the added touches that make it a notch above.

Accommodations were fine, but relatively overpriced. Management was unresponsive in dealing with an issue, which prompted me to leave early. The Good: Comprehensive array of cooking equipment. High visual perspective provides distant views. Good use of square footage, provides for very good social space. The Bad: Check-in procedure is time-consuming. It took about an hour, from arriving at the rental office to being in the room. Very limited loading-zone parking. There are 5 spots for loading/unloading at the building entrance, so arriving/departing guests must stand-by at gate-house. Guest parking is, I'm guessing, about 1000' from the building. Shuttles are available, which seemed about 50/50 for convenience compared to walking. While the distant views from the balcony were impressive, the wood and wood-furniture on the balcony needs maintenance. Management was unresponsive. I did not receive a WiFi password, at check-in. The management office is closed after 5pm and on weekends, which made it impossible to obtain the password during my scheduled stay. The person working the "after-hours" phone line seemed largely indifferent to this non-emergency. As Internet access was an important need for me, I departed Sugar Top the following morning. I was, later, told that they sent someone to confirm that the router worked; which, while good to know, wasn't the issue I called about.

We had a wonderful experience during our stay. The unit was very clean and had an incredible view of Grandfather Mountain. Would definitely stay again!

This condo was the perfect get away to the mountains. We could fix our own meals (during social distancing), could relax after hiking in the comfortable living area, enjoy the great beds, and sit on the porch and stare at the mountains. Resonably priced option for getting away, yet being safe. Heads up- entrance to Grandfather Mountain is only available by appointment just now, so plan ahead.
