WOW! This was the perfect vacation house for our bird watching trip! The house was quite spacious! The beds were super comfortable – which was very welcome after a day spent walking and exploring. The house did not lack any amenities. I do love going places and finding the fridge totally empty and ready for our groceries - that was great! My husband spent much of his time on his computer and the internet speed was perfect for his needs as well. The kitchen is well appointed though I never did take time to cook- we got takeout from the local area restaurants daily and sat out on the screen porch to enjoy our dinners. The backyard is quite large and very private and with the canal and trees- it was just so peaceful watching the birds while we ate. The outdoor furniture is very comfy and I would often find my husband asleep out there! After birding all morning we would take mid-day breaks and come home and jump In the pool and get refreshed before our afternoon and early evening explorations! After the first day I would not go out to the pool without my camera as I never knew what kind of bird would pop by while we were out there. I had not expected that the house itself would become such a hot spot for birds! One day new were out exploring all the bird hot spots- and we were in search of the painted bunting. We had no luck. When we got back to the house and pulled in the driveway- what was in the yard?? A painted bunting!!! Here is a list of birds we found in the yard at the house: Painted Bunting!, Indigo Bunting (50+), Green Heron, Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Eastern Bluebird, Blue Grosbeak, Rose Breasted Grosbeak, Summer Tanager, Cedar Waxwings, Yellow-throated Warbler, Common Yellow-throat, Great Crested Flycatcher, Common Nighthawk, Belted Kingfisher, Blue-headed Vireo, Pine Warbler, Hooded Warbler, Swainson's Thrush, Orchard Oriole, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Solitary Sandpiper, Northern Cardinal, Mockingbird, Blue Jay, Mourning Dove, Red-bellied Woodpecker, House Wren, Carolina Wren, Brown Pelican, American Robin, Fish Crow, Laughing Gull, Cowbird!! I am still amazed!! I loved the mid island location- anyplace we wanted to go was just a few minutes away. Julie was very quick to answer any questions and was the perfect hostess! We will be back!!!

We had an amazing time here. Kids were in the pool by 8am most days. Good beaches at either end of the island. Used the bikes quite a bit. Would definitely stay here again!

It was our first visit to Dauphin Island, and it was a great vacation! The house was perfect for two families. The kitchen was stocked for cooking and eating in. The pool was great, along with all of the deck space. The house is in the perfect location, close to everything but you have your own space. Julie and Steve were FANTASTIC hosts. Eat the local seafood and go to the bakery. We will certainly be back!

The owner had bikes, basketball and goal, swimming pool equipment, beach toys and wagon, and grill. The house was fully equipped with pots and pans, condiments, adequate toilet paper and paper towels, dish washing and laundry detergent. The owners were friendly and easy to access by text. I brought one other adult and my three children ranging in age from 6-10. I was also provided with local activites and events. It is a property that I would stay in again!!

We had the best time at this property! Everything was clean and well-stocked! The pool is AMAZING and the perfect size and depth for my kids who are not yet the strongest swimmers. They loved playing in this pool. The location was perfect. We loved seeing all of the wildlife on the island. All beds were very comfortable. We loved that the upstairs had its own air unit and separate thermostat. We will definitely stay here again.

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful week on Dauphin Island. The beautiful house exceeded all our expectations. Communication was excellent. Julie quickly handled any questions we had. We were extremely satisfied with everything.

This home was a great match for everyone in our group ranging from 10 years old to 79 years old. We loved the separate ice machine for filling our cooler for the beach. The kids loved playing ping pong, swimming and reading in the hammock. The home is very private. We really had a wonderful time!

This house was great. I was a little worried about dauphin island bc I had heard the water wasn’t very pretty since were used to going to Florida but the gulf side of the west end beach was very pretty and the water was clear enough to see 4-5 feet down! The only things I would say that could make the house better would be a few more blankets and maybe fans on the decks upstairs to enjoy the outside more. The house itself was great though! The ice maker was amazing!! Thank you for sharing your house with us!!

It was exceptionally clean, with all the amenities we needed, and plenty we didn’t have time to take advantage of. We spent lots of time in the pool, kitchen, and screened in back porch and loved our time there! The location is perfect, as it’s a super short drive to the stores, restaurants, beaches, and the bird sanctuary. We had a chance to chat with the owners and they were lovely and gave us some great suggestions for where to visit.

Nice stay! Julie was very hospitable and the property was accomodating for a family of 5. The only issue I experienced was the lack of internet connectivity.

Dauphin Island is a place to go with family and friends and stay out for the length of vacation. The house was lovely and comfortable and the pool was a must as there just isn't anything else to do in the island.

Very relaxing with private pool and own privacy.

We had such a great experience at Heron’s Nest! The home was beautiful and in a great location. Short drive to the beaches (west end was our favorite- so many shells 🐚). Fully equipped kitchen came in handy as we cooked every meal. The pool was perfect for the kids. Just a great place for a family vacation.
