Location of hotel was perfect as we were there for business at the NEC next door. Breakfast was nice but a bit on the expensive side as not included in the cost of the room.

The lifts do as they please. One wasn't working so the other one was a mystery ride. I got in on floor 3 with other guests to head to reception, it went up to floors 4 and 5, back to 3, up to 4, back to 3,2 and then ground. Extremely frustrating. Ended up using the stairs for day 2 of our stay. The check in queue was also long upon arrival. Bathrooms could do with a serious update.

I was staying here for a work event but had the good fortune to spend some time in the hotel's Gild Bar which offers an impressive array of drinks and food (both of which were excellent). What lifted the experience even more though was the super staff who work here - they are attentive, professional and take the time in and amongst their busy work to chat with the guests. One member of staff in particular, Ibs, provided a 5 star service to me and my work colleague making sure we were well looked after throughout our stay in the bar. He is an excellent Ambassador for the hotel and we were very grateful for his professionalism and attention to detail.

A small observation - the room could have benefitted from more of a welcome tray, particularly given the price point. But that was only a minor point.

The room was comfortable and the breakfast was very nice. The location in relation to BP Pulse Theatre was very good

The hotel is undergoing major refurbishment and so we couldn't use the pool or facilities . There were workers everywhere. The lift was out of commission so we could wither wait for the lift or take the trade stairs. I booked two rooms one for my sister one for me and I come from Cardiff and my sister comes from London. She arrived before me and they were not going to let her in even though she was paying independently. There was no breakfast booked for us which I had booked through the Bookings webs site and they charged my sister for it. They didn't charge me. It was extremely dissorganised
