The Old Inn

The room felt very clean and comfortable, and we really appreciated the bathrobes and flip-flops provided for the spa. The complimentary fizzy drinks were a nice touch. We enjoyed the spa area and it was also really helpful having parking available.

There were quite a few little things that let the stay down. The four-poster bed was extremely high and the pillows weren’t very comfortable. There was no full-length mirror, the hand-soap pump was broken and the carpet between the bedroom and bathroom was lifting. Drinks were also expensive at around £8 a pint. Breakfast was disappointing. We weren’t given a choice of where to sit and were seated very close to the kitchen door, which was noisy with staff regularly kicking the door button to open it. These are mostly small things, but together they took away from what otherwise could have been a really lovely stay.

We loved the breakfast. Plenty of choice and staff were very friendly and nothing was too much for them. There were complimentary soft drinks in the fridge and robes in the wardrobes. All staff were worth their weight in gold.

The room decor was tired. there were bits of the wallpaper missing and some was coming away from the ceiling. The double glazed windows were blown, thus making them appear cloudy. It is such a shame as it lets the overall experience of the stay down. Needs some redecoration.
