Location
The staff were having to help out in different departments and seemed under pressure - although they were very professional and competent it was impossible for them to be in two places at once which seemed to be what was demanded of them which meant having to stand around waiting to be served.

Meget velplaceret i den hyggelige lille by, Grasmere
Håndværksmæssig vedligeholdelse af hotellet var mangelfuld el. den nemme løsning var valgt. Et hotel der har rammerne, for at kunne udtrykke høj standard fremstod mere som et standard hotel.

Great location, very nice room, dinner was good.
7.0
Beautiful location, very friendly staff and very comfortable beds
Decor in rooms is a little tired, the carpets could do with being replaced. The breakfast was a fiasco. It took 45 mins from ordering to receive our food. When it arrived the portion size was small so overall disappointing

Could do with a refurb, quite draughty, food not Amasing

Location, staff, food all great.
Constant loud humming noise that greatly affected sleep. We're both used to sleeping in a relatively quiet environment therefore the noise produced anxiety and we weren't able to sleep well.
As we were above kitchen, I suspect it was the kitchen extractor fan.

Great food and a superb view from the room.
Swimming pool sauna was not working.

There was a conference booked and most of the facilties e.g. conservatory, dining room were not fully available for guests like us, the Hotel did not inform us of this prior to turning up, if they had we would probably have cancelled. It appears the new owners are not focused on guests experience as previous owners were
The new owners have removed fine dining which the previous owners had which had plenty of selection.
They now have one cardboard menu printed on both sides, more like a pub menu, we liked the fine dining
If the owners brought back fine dining we would probably come back

Location for breakfast was good.
However would have expected it to have have been cooked to order instead of plating pre cooked
Similarly disappointed in dinner menu, for a 4-star hotel would have expected a better selection rather than conventional bar food
Restaurant food , see above

Dogs allowed in the Restaurant.Lots of dog hair on the carpet around our table.,

Lovely location. Free parking. Warm comfortable room. Decent breakfast.
When I pick a "Spa Hotel" I expect the water to be warm. I thought with such a lovely outlook it would be bustling with people but to my surprise there was only one other person reading on a lounger. Well the temperature of the water was "baltic" and if I had wanted to go wild swimming I would have gone to a local river. So maybe that was why we were the only ones in the pool. To add to this my husband took a drink from the water dispenser and thought it tasted a bit off. He didn't have his glasses on but when I looked at it, it was green with algea. Very noticeably. Needless to say we didn't go back the following day. Advised management of algea.Very disappointing.

Felt very established and well refurbished.
The dining room tables are rather small and too close together

The room was a bit warm but the weather was too

Lovely setting, and lovely grounds, Breakfast was excellent, Room clean and tidy.
We had asked for twin beds, but the bed was actually a double that had been unzipped into 2so was still a double only with single bedding, and no distance between the 2 beds which wasn't ideal. Due to very hot weather the room was very hot, could have done with air conditioning.

breakfast very good apart from having to keep asking for more butter.
room excellent.
bistro meal very poor and not value for money, restaurant menue not enough choice, very expensive and did not open until 6-15pm.

The hotel for picturesque, perfectly located, super clean plus the staff were so so helpful, engaging and friendly.
The heating was on when it was very hot outside. I was disappointed there was no view from the room when I feel I paid a lot of money for the rooms. There was no hot water in one of our rooms.

Also the restaurant had a very nice atmosphere.

The location is central in the village of Grasmere and is ideal for walking from the hotel whether it be up into the fells or in and around Grasmere itself. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful peaceful scenery including the well maintained hotel garden in which to relax.
The property is tired and in need of a full revamp. Having stayed here before we were disappointed to find the standard / presentation of the hotel had dropped. We can only comment on the food and service in the hotel Bistro as we didn’t eat in the restaurant but the whole ambience was poor, disorganised and the food basic. This is a beautiful hotel building that needs some loving care and effective leadership to help raise its standards and invest into its staff.

Comfortable and welcoming.
Several changes afoot due to new owners it seems. Dining area now a bistro, sauna off/on at irregular intervals, no robes to use for going to pool, no gingerbread or wine in rooms. Some soft furnishings rather shabby.

Great location in the centre of Grasmere. Pool looked nice, food good, nice restaurant meal and hearty Cumberland breakfast. Suite very spacious with coffee machine and jacuzzi bath.
Paid a lot of money for the room but the bed was so hard and uncomfortable it was like sleeping on a wooden door!
