For £90 per night for a couple, it's pretty good value. The pub looked lovely but we didn't have time for an evening there, sadly. Breakfast, for an extra £10 a head, was also great value and helpful – we signed up the night before and had a full cooked English with coffee. The bed was very comfy, and the room was lovely and bright with big windows.
The room wasn't cleaned well enough before we arrived: there were bits of old leaves and twigs on the carpet, and thick dust on the plug sockets and cobwebs in the corners of the room. Also, staff were a bit brusque, although not rude – I felt like I was inconveniencing them when I asked if there was an iron to borrow (there wasn't, which is fine).

Loved this place! Very quaint, quite, and very much fitting for the more country side of England. The room was perfect size for us and the bed was comfortable. Location was good and right next to a bus stop. Also, the food in the pub was FANTASTIC!
The shower was a little on the smaller end, but also some additional instruction on how to use the shower and faucet would have been helpful, but we did figure it out.

The staff were lovely and the accommodation was really nice.
Toilet door didn’t close easily, couldn’t get hot water from the tap.

Good sized clean room, free onsite parking, located close to Matlock, onsite restaurant for dinner and breakfast, friendly staff.
Soundproofing of room was terrible. We were in room 6, and could hear every footstep from the guests in the room directly above us (room 5) it was like constant thunder and unbearably squeaky floorboards making it so difficult to get to sleep. Every time they moved in the bed, we could hear the floorboards creak and this went on until just before midnight.
Plus the single glaze window meant you could clearly hear conversations from people sitting outside.
