The Literary Man Obidos Hotel

A lovely stay at a very quaint, unique and historic hotel. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was delicious, the collection of books in all areas of the hotel was fabulous.

The pillows were extremely floppy if you like a firmer and/or higher pile, so some alternate options would be helpful.

This was the best hotel I have ever stayed in! It is so gorgeous – there are books everywhere and even a reading room and library. There's a gorgeous outdoor garden, too. My room was spacious and had great extra amenities, such as a small terrace and a bathtub. I had to check in a little early in order to take a meeting for work, so I called ahead and the staff were extremely accommodating when it came to getting my room ready. It was an extremely hot day in Obidos, but the air conditioner worked well. I ate dinner at the Book & Cook restaurant and it was delicious. There's an extra cost for breakfast in the morning, but also well worth it. The location is extremely close to the town center and all tourist attractions.

Good location. Looks good from the outside. Bed was comfortable. Liked the quirky concept…90,000 books!

Tatty inside. Our room/shower was not very clean. We were in room 18…looks like a converted storeroom Went into the bar & saw an exit to the Secret Garden & walked towards it…straight into a closed glass door. Apart from a few cuts & bruises I was ok but it was dangerous. It’s happened before they said! They hastily put a sign on the glass door which made all of the difference of course.
