The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. The room was big, cosy, clean, and fully equipped with what I needed. The water pressure in the shower was just perfect, internet was fast without any glitches, and the whole experience was just right.

The room was a good size for two adults. En-suite shower room is a good size, clean and well stocked. House keeping and room cleanliness is very good and the two house keepers we met were pleasant and friendly. Drinking water fountain in the reception area is useful. There was a fan, kettle and hair dryer in the room. The hotel is in a good location to the city and railway. It is also only 15 minutes walk from a very good Wetherspoons for meals and drinks.

Reception is a screened off glass window dividing a room from the corridor. The person on reception is also responsible for the breakfast area each day and we often didn’t see anyone stationed in either place. Breakfast was our main area of ‘description not matching reality’. During our 6 days stay we were told, when we first asked about a hot breakfast, we could have samosa, hash browns and baked beans. The next day we were told there is no hot breakfast options. On one morning, no plates, not enough bowls and no knives, so had to ask for them. On another morning, no milk or fruit juice which we again had to ask for. On another, we came down to breakfast at 8:15 (breakfast is between 8am and 10am) and it wasn’t open. We waited at reception for 15 minutes before phoning the mobile number to ask when it was opening. On another morning, the fresh fruit consisted of one satsuma and the continental option was two slices of pre-wrapped cheese. Yoghurts appeared on day 3. Breakfast is serve yourself with a choice of 4 cereals, white or brown sliced bread for the toaster, a microwave for porridge and a kettle for a hot drink. Also be aware that parking around the hotel is permit only so costs at least £5 a day to the hotel. So add this to your costs.
