The Orwell Hotel

Breakfast was good.

The heating in bedroom wasn’t available. There were no extra blankets or portable heating. We were both at 75 & 80 cold in the night. Luckily I had some blankets in the car. My daughter in another room 48 years old was also cold and slept in her coat. Didn’t complain to the hotel as we heard others had mentioned it. The response was ( we haven’t turned on the heating yet) We still love the hotel and realise it’s good value for the money on booking.com.

Room was fine and the evening meal was lovely. Hotel was very well positioned ith a nice walk to the sea front

The only issue we had was the water pressure in the shower which was quite poor, and the decoration in the room was a bit tired.

Lots of refurbishments have been carried out, and this has made great improvements to the hotel!

The location & parking

The room had two badly cracked windows . The sash windows were both broken, solidly jammed & unable to be open or closed at will . The hot tap knob was unattached & came away in your hand when using the shower .There was no grab handle in the shower & made it extremely dangerous whenever getting in or out of the shower . The shower head was unadjustable & shot out at all angles rather than over your body . The hot tap in the sink was fitted so that you had to turn it clockwise to turn it on , which is against the norm . The door to the room internally was covered in old stickers & bits of old tape . When I told the concierge about the dangerous windows he came & confirmed they were & said they would be fixed . One was laughably repaired but the other not at all .
