River Place Manor

Ein toller Einstieg in unseren Südafrika Urlaub. Wir haben die zwei Nächte genossen und konnten uns von der langen Anreise erholen. Die Lage ist toll und das Zimmer komfortabel und sauber. Auch das Frühstück war sehr ordentlich. .

Und da sieht man, dass gerade im Außenbereich einige Dinge in die Jahre gekommen sind.

Plenty of space in the room with a great bathroom and large shower. The room overlooked the garden and Orange River. The food was really good too. I had steak which was cooked perfectly with potatoes and veg. I left early the next day so the staff made me a boxed breakfast which was also amazing ! Two BLT sandwiches with two boiled eggs, a drink and a breakfast muffin !

Excellent service and fantastic staff and views.

We stayed in one of the suites, and the room was exceptionally spacious, comfortable and generally well presented. The bed was comfortable, and the staff at reception were professional and helpful. We needed to leave early the next morning, and they kindly prepared breakfast for us in advance. It was perfectly acceptable, although not exceptional. We also had dinner at the property, and the lamb shank was excellent and very good value for money. The setting next to the river is pleasant and has a lot of potential.

My main concern is value for money. The property feels slightly overpriced for what you receive, particularly at the upper end of their room offering. Nothing was seriously wrong, but there are a number of smaller maintenance and presentation issues that could be improved. For example, the couch in our room was showing some wear, and some areas of the property could receive a little more attention. The riverside area could also be managed better. Opening the umbrellas and removing the covers from the outdoor chairs and couches in the late afternoon would create a much more inviting atmosphere. Overall, it was not a bad stay, but I would probably choose another property next time simply because I do not feel it currently offers particularly good value for money.
