The Ruddings

Particularly nice little hotel just less than 10 minutes from Keswick. Very well appointed and decorated with excellent furniture. The food was top notch, both dinner and breakfast.

Just a bit of noise from the road so maybe get a rear room but then you miss out on the lovely views so ying and yang really.

The view from our room was amazing. All the staff were so helpful.

Lovely welcome and the room was so nice!

Nothing!

The service at this hotel was exemplary as was the cleanliness. The breakfasts were splendid and the evening meal good. The hotel is close to a main road which meant it was convenient to drive into Keswick and access to both Loweswater and Derwentwater. The view from the Dining room was very good. We asked for a quiet room and received one at the back of the hotel though there were some very selfish other residents who were noisy which was not the fault of the hotel. The beds were comfortable and the shower had a good strength and easy to use. Richard and My-oh were particularly helpful.

The room was small and the "wardrobe" consisted of a poky cupboard with several hangars and an unbelievable 12 drawers so if you wore just socks and boxer shorts it would have been ideal. I have worked in hotels and the design of the rooms has been ill thought out. The bathroom was practically as big as the bedroom so the bedroom had no chairs and not even a stool. We didn't notice that the hotel is dog friendly on the booking site and unfortunately this was an understatement but great for fans of crufts. One last thing was the ridiculous time that the laundry van collected the dirty laundry. Because it arrived about 15 minutes after breakfast finished and blocked the entire hotel car park it meant that eight residents had to wait over 20 minutes to commence the journey home: this soured our stay and is something that needs changing as it shows poor management.
