POSHPACKER - Chengdu Mix Hostel - Cicada Zen Yard

Super social hostel. I can do my own thing during the day and there's almost always something I can join in the evening. I loved the free family dinners, hotpot, and dumpling classes. Great way to get to meet people and even if there are people in the common area downstairs, the dorms are pretty quiet on the second floor. I've been trying to find similar stays across China and other countries but this feels like one of a kind!

There were a ton of mosquitoes (I also travelled in the summer), so my roommates and I got bitten every night. Not a dealbreaker since everything else was so great, but I would invest in some bug cream.

The style and design like a tea house for the common spaces and a traditional house for the rooms and showers/toilets is a major highlight, together with the excellent maintenance and quality of the beds in the dormitory. I had great sleeping which is very rare for dorts. The friendly atmosphere is ideal to meet other travellers and spent pleasant time together. They also organise lots of free activities like calligraphy sessions and guided tours, and are extremely helpful in booking for you tickets for Sichuan Opera, Museums, one day trips and more. They speak excellent English and are super efficient in responding to any needs you may have. They communicate and reply very quickly to chat messages. The location of the hostel is great, by the river, in a lovely neighbourhood with all what you need and walking distance to the center an, Wenshu monastery and metro stations. It was also very clean. After trying other hostels in Chengdu, this is by far the best one: I will come back!

One night people were smoking in common areas and the smell reached the rooms on the first floor. This should not happen. However, it was only once!

Great location and place to stay! The room was comfortable and clean. We joined the dumpling class and it was fun. The staff is really helpful and very kind
