The Marine Hotel

Breakfast was good. Dinner menu was fairly basic but food always hot. Staff helpful and even arranged a breakfast to go when we had an early start one morning. Tea, coffee and milk in room refilled every day. Towels were big and soft.

Swimming pool was open but the changing rooms were closed so not really able to use the pool or would mean trapsing round the hotel in wet swimwear to get back to room to change. Had to chose what you were going to eat for dinner when you were having breakfast. Only 2 sittings for dinner 18:00 and 19:15. Very rambling hotel with lots of different levels so lots of stairs to contend with. If you book to park your car it can be at another hotel so a walk with luggage back to your hotel where the back entrance is closest but you have to go up a flight of stairs with luggage to get to the main floor. If you walk round to the front of the hotel it is quite a long walk with luggage.

The breakfast was excellent, compliments to the Chef. Maybe could include prunes on the breakfast menu ? Unfortunately for us, there was outside scaffolding all around the hotel, with a side door blocked off. This did not affect our enjoyment inside the hotel. We paid £25 for early check in, which was so well worth it, as you accessed your room when you arrived, instead of sitting around waiting for 3pm. Beds also were very comfortable.

There was no early morning heating, just to take the chill off the room, the towel rail did not heat up either. There was a lot of condensation on the bedroom windows in the morning, so the sea view was somewhat obscured.

Unfortunately scaffolding all around hotel, been like this for nearly 2yrs, I think they need to change company doing work. Unable to use soap dispenser in bathroom, as tap positioned right under it
