The place in general is located in a beautiful area. You can enjoy the view from the terrasse. Another thing is the breakfast, it was nourishing, tasty.

We found it a bit hard to find the place. Especially when we reached the village. The sign wasn't visible at all.

I loved the location, it was phenomenal. Literally in the middle of nowhere, with a view of several mountains - you want to get away from it all. Come here. The family who live below, were wonderful, helpful and very accommodating. 10/10

The walk from the town, to the hotel was very long and most of it in the dark - but that is the nature of the location. It could be better lit.

Amazing rooftop views. I don't mean to make this review neither positive nor negative, it's just that our experience was just like we had slept at an aging riad that wasn't open. Rooms were passable, but very old uncomfortable beds, lots of flies, no place to put shower head etc, no comfort on the rooftop etc, but this is all kind of ok as it's a proper 'off the main road' berber house and part of the general experience. The guy checked us in, I asked about dinner, he said that you have to pre-order but then we didn't see anybody around the riad for the rest of the day, so we had to head into the town to eat, infact we never really saw anyone until it was time to pay for the room at checkout.

It felt like we were staying at an unstaffed apartment.

The owner, Jamal, is a ruthlessly dishonest man who aggressively attempted to silence our negative review through intimidation, and by cancelling our reservation after we had checked in and paid, but before we had checked out, then claimed we never even arrived to the hotel in the first place. I had to struggle with Booking customer support for days refuting the lies Jamal had told them just to be able to write this review you are now reading. He attempted to charge us twice for our stay at Dar Atlas by claiming that we never arrived after he took our payment in cash and failed to give us a receipt or register our check-in with Booking in any way. The excellent rating of his "hotel" (actually a repurposed house above a pen of farm animals) does not reflect reality, only his relentless manipulation of his business's online reputation. In reality he is unhelpful, unresponsive, absent and dismissive at best, and at worst rude, aggressive, manipulative, and larcenous. I saw Jamal at the hotel only twice in the week we were there. His wife does all the real work. The first time was to ask for the payment, which he did curtly without even introducing himself, and then left. The second time was after I'd contacted customer service at Booking about the food poisoning I got from breakfast at Dar Atlas (I was doing intermittent fasting and ate nothing else all day). He waited for us outside our room and then yelled at us, called us liars, ridiculously claimed my symptoms were caused by altitude sickness (despite never asking what they were), claimed we had brought the flies to the hotel with our boots, and insulted us a variety of other ways I'd rather not repeat. He showed no interest in helping us, trying to hear us out, or treating us as guests. He simply lost his temper and got defensive. We stayed at Dar Atlas for over a week, and it was one of the worst weeks I've spent anywhere. Please think twice before staying at Dar Atlas.

The hotel is absolutely filthy. There are dozens of large flies in every room from the farm animals directly below, which enter freely through the windows, almost none of which have screens. Our room was not ready when we arrived in the late afternoon, and nobody was there to greet us despite our sending messages to the hotel alerting them to our arrival as for hours prior. We were let in by a neighbor and waited for an hour until someone showed up to check us in and prepare the room. The room was delivered to us with 15 flies inside, which we spent a half hour killing. We were given no toilet paper. At no point in the next week did anyone ask if we'd like the room cleaned or sheets changed. The bed was uncomfortable, dirty, and we woke up with many bug bites, probably either ants or bedbugs. There is constant noise from 6 AM to midnight, sometimes later. In the morning you are woken up before sunset by crowing roosters less than 3 meters away in the pen just below the hotel. During the day the farm animals and neighbors' children quite loud. At night there is much more noise as the neighbors party, sometimes with children playing hand-drums, sometimes until 1 AM. The worst part about our stay was that the breakfast gave me food poisoning, which I am still struggling with as I write this. You have probably seen the picture of their generous spread of marmalade, jams, sauces, butter, etc. I recommend not touching it. Look closely and you will see it is not new. We noticed by examining the leftovers of other guests that ate before us, and then looking closely at what was served to us, that the beautiful breakfast platter is in fact recycled day after day, left in a room full of flies for hours afterward each time. I have been suffering from severe gastrointestinal distress for several days because I trusted the food. My wife did not trust it, and she did not get sick.

We stayed there for one night and it was very good. Our room was very comfortable and it had amazing views to the valley. We had a very good dinner and a great breakfast to climb the Toubkal the day after. We liked it so much that we will stay there another night.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Dar Atlas! The rooms were clean and the wifi worked well, and the host Jamal was very accommodating. I visited in the summer, when it was a bit warm, so I needed to crack a window but otherwise it was a comfortable stay. The breakfast was quite a tasty array of fruit spreads and bread. Note that Dar Atlas is in Ait Souka, so it's a little bit of an uphill walk from Imlil center. Not only was Jamal an exceptional host, through him I was able to arrange at the last minute a trek around the Toubkal circuit. At around 8:30 pm the night I arrived, I spoke with Jamal about possibilities for treks to Toubkal and the surrounding Berber villages. Within a couple hours we had settled on a 4 day trek departing the next day from Imlil to Refuge du Toubkal (day 1), the refuge to Jbel Toubkal and back to the refuge (day 2), to Tizi n’ Ouanoumss, where we then descended down to a waterfall and then to the Berber village of Tizi Oussem (day 3), and then finally returning to Imlil (day 4). And last but certainly not least, I must mention the excellent muleteer/cook and the guide that Jamal selected to accompany me on my trek. Ibrahim, the guide, was not only exceptionally knowledgeable about the terrain, history and culture of Jebel Toubkal and the Berber people, he was super friendly and engaging, which made the hours spent hiking in the Atlas that much more enjoyable! He also spoke good english which made communication easy. Muhammad, the cook/muleteer, was also a joy to be around, and I was astonished at the quality of the meals he would cook up seemingly out of thin air. My experience in the High Atlas would not have been the same without Ibrahim and Muhammad, and I look forward to coming back to Morocco some day and going on another trek with them and staying with Jamal at Dar Atlas.

We had the best breakfast we have had in Morocco. An excellent assortment of items, accompanied by a wonderful view of Imlil and the mountains. We also ordered dinner at the riad which was delicious and very reasonably priced. The location was very peaceful and the perfect place to rest after our trek up Mount Toubkal. We were also visiting during the festival of Eid and really appreciated the host's hospitality during this busy and important time.

There were a lot of flies in the room and salon at the time we visited, perhaps due to the many animals in the area (with it being a village). This could easily be fixed by installing more mosquito/bug screens into all the windows.

It's a cosy place, good for hikers. The village is very nice, we went up to see but it's far from the road, luckily I was with a driver otherwise I wouldn't find it. I don't think it's good for a solo woman traveler You better chose a room on the left side as mine was to the right and it was A rooster that croaked all night

We really enjoyed our stay here. It's an amazing location with even more amazing view from the rooftop. Everything was clean and comfortable and the food was delicious.

It was inexpensive, and the staff/family were really lovely and welcoming. The breakfast was HUGE and lovely.

Getting there in the dark for the first time was super sketchy, it being a 10 minute walk in the dark from the road. I'd suggest that they offer a torch and walk slower when first guiding new guests to the hotel at night. I felt like I was having to run after someone in the dark over uneven ground. I'm not sure what the situation was with the water. It worked sometimes and then at other times there was no water at all. This could have been explained to me to help me plan when to wash.

Good location and a much needed private room after escaping Marrakech and climbing Toubkal. There was a bit of confusion regarding my room being available but they put me in another room for the same price and even let me pay less as I opted to let some hikers I met who were also staying there bunk with me.

A little confusing to find where it was, so had to ask about a bit as it wasn't where google maps said.

An incredibly comfy hostel in the Atlas mountains where I would've settled for a lot less! The bed was large and comfortable, the shared area was also big and had very nice seating that was good to chill out on and play cards. Meals were tasty and reasonably priced, plus the breakfast had a good selection. The staff were friendly: Mustafa in particular made me a mint tea and some dates and chebakia and we had a chat.

Beautiful terrace, delicious dinner and breakfast!! We stayed here before our hike up to Mt Toubkal. Jamal arranged a guide for us to take us there. The house is in a small village where you must walk a short distance to off the main road. Street parking was available. Be aware the address on google maps is not correct, so make sure to look out for the sign of the place. The sign for Dar Atlas is where the trail to the house begins from the road.
