The Lairgate

Location

I asked when booking for a walk in shower as I have problems with my knees, this was arranged but I only found out on arrival that the hotel had no lift and I had 2 floors of stairs to my allocated room, no.20, with slightly loose carpets and sagging stairs on the upper flight. The room appeared reasonable but only had towels for one person although the booking was made for a couple. We did not try the bed till after returning from our event and we then found that it had a low spot in the center so we both rolled into each other and only got to sleep when we put two pillows longways down the center of the bed to level it up.

Location.

Really needs a deep clean. Very dusty everywhere, not cleaned behind TV, Bedside tables, skirting boards. Half a toilet roll in bathroom but we managed to get more from reception. Key cards hit and miss to get in which was a worry. Far too hot in room. Both taps are hot in bathroom.

Comfy bed and good linen.

Very old furniture. Very tired surroundings and very few if anyone staying in hotel.

The bed was very comfortable and the shower was powerful and nice and hot

The access in when late and the access to the room I understand with it being a old building with the steps being short but the carpet didn’t help as I slipped down them and I can tell it’s happened a few time before as can see they tried stapling the carpet in place
