Quiet location and the hot tub

Brilliant location, got tub was amazing as well as the large bath in the couples cabin

The owner has only taken over in the last 2 weeks so there are a few issues to iron out but the staff where brilliant and I couldn't complain other than a leak above the extractor fan and a springy mattress.

Easy check in, staff friendly and helpful. Lodge spotless, hot tub clean and ready to use. Lovely quiet rural location as expected, we were well prepared and took everything food wise we required with us. Very relaxing and we were able to unwind and relax fully during our stay. Having read the reviews we were dreading how our break would be but to say we we were very pleasantly surprised is an understatement. Staff are working hard at the resort and lots of maintenance/work is being undertaken.

Its a shame the pub on site does not serve food and is a cash only bar. The beds queen very springy but having read the reviews we took our own mattress topper with us so it wasn't and issue. I would have preferred an undercounter freezer to a washing machine as you are so far out and the fridge had only a small icebox at the top. Which was fine for us but a family would struggle. (My personal observation only).

Staff were friendly and tried to help sort issues out quickly and efficiently Once you braved the bad fen road it was a beautiful and peaceful spot

The Devan beds hadn't been cleaned under properly for a long time,so after sweeping and moving them and getting a pile of thick dust and even bits from a previous birthday celebration, I felt I could sleep there, There was also a lot of cobwebs throughout the property. Also there was basic things missing such as coat hangers,bath mats for in and out of bath. The sofa in the lounge is hard cold and uncomfortable to sit on so not good for just relaxing on. The hot tubs all need a proper service,the first one didn't hold it's heat and the jets were inafectual,definate lack of power, The manager moved us to a second lodge.. This time the bed mattresses were cheap springs, very uncomfortable,no mattress topper or mattress protectors, but lodge was marginally cleaner. Same identical uncomfortable seating in lounge,a small bedroom TV had been removed from second bedroom and put in the lounge so you had to sit and strain neck looking up at it. And the hot tub, although heated ok , it's motor again sounding rough,it also only had jets going for thirty seconds every few minutes, so was annoying but also they didn't turn off so it was going on and off all night and caused a nuisance for sleeping,along with the bright lights left on around the site the first lodge had the next door lights left on after cleaning and these shon constantly in the windows even with curtains shut in our bedrooms the light came in the thin curtains. And the second one the bright coloured lights that light up the office block were on all night and shining in the windows, So in all we didn't get the restful and relaxing stay we went there for.
