Friendly and homely host that was very attentive but not intrusive.
Mattress was lumpy if I’m to nitpick.

Great place. Had never really stayed at a guesthouse before but after our stay here I think it’s my preference now !! Owners were great. Can’t say enough good things about them in space provided 😊 They provided a really nice breakfast every morning and seemed genuinely happy to share their knowledge of Kyoto and offer advice. Indeed, we would have missed out on some of our favorite sights if it weren’t for their advice. Room was clean, comfortable, and secure. Air conditioning worked great and was appreciated after a long day of walking in the Kyoto summer heat.
Nothing.

The warmth, hospitality, helpfulness, advice and kindness went well above and beyond. The breakfast was a lovely and thoughtful start to each day, and the optional paid for Japanese breakfast was exceptional. Rooms quiet, comfy, traditional futon option too. Peaceful . Aircon. A place to feel at home, and ideally placed for walks to temples, easy enough walk into centre too.
Nothing to dislike, unless you absolutely must be in the very centre of town and don't like walking at all.

We really liked: The free breakfast including fresh fruit.
The welcoming lounge area. The children loved the Tibetan sitting room and snack basket, as well as the games available to play…
We especially appreciated the helpful and accommodating owners and staff. They were able to advise us on our sightseeing with much knowledge of the local area. It was a short walk to see many temples and shrines on the main tourist route.
The bonus was the paid for Japanese breakfast option! Delicious…
