Host is exceptional and very helpful. Feels like home!

1. We had a small issue with some of the rooms being too warm at night. Windows that opened for fresh air would have been helpful. 2. The size of the bedrooms are so small, barely fitting the beds (the beds themselves are very comfortable)

You could not find a more helpful owner than Kenneth, a more friendly village than Are or a more charming house than the one he built for himself and shares with those lucky enough to be able to make the trip to northern Sweden. The house itself is unorthodox in design but worked very well for our family of six; the kitchen has every necessary implement, pot and pan; the smallish oven worked fine for a full Christmas dinner including roast turkey, roast ham, roast vegetables etc etc. The fireplace was a joy; we lit it every day and it consumed all our spare paper bags and cardboard as well as the plentiful supply of wood that Kenneth had laid in. The heating was reliable and we were never cold – in fact we had to turn the heat down as the top two bedrooms got quite warm. In common with all Swedish/Finnish houses the sauna is given pride of place; it had a great view with generous seating to go with the sauna and shower; other bathing facilities were limited to a couple of WCs, but somehow we never found ourselves queuing so it worked very well for us. An evening husky ride was a highlight of the holiday along with a visit to a huge frozen waterfall closeby, and the deep snow allowed snowball fights of epic proportions on a daily basis. Snow sculptures were created, toboggan races were held, and by day the kids were taught to ski. As a family we gave the whole holiday a full five stars – gorgeous scenery, a lovely friendly owner, and a charming and practical house. Good food, lots to do for everyone and snow everywhere.

Awesome place, only a couple of km from the slopes! We were 8 guys and it was a small perfect places for everyone to sleep and a big combined living room / kitchen to hang out at! Kenneth was a great host and always replied within an hour when I had questions! The kitchen is more than fully equipped, nothing is missed! If I go to Åre I will stay there again!
