great japanese experience on my first trip to japan.. great onsite private onsen to be used. Center to all exploration from 5 to 30 min walks.
can't take these floor futons which are so uncomfortable and hard... happy to have experienced them.. never again!

Bungo was excellent at advising on all the local must see’s. Also helped arrange a massage for me after my 8 days of cycling. (Also bicycle parking on site)

We went to Ryokan Yamamuro with our 2 children (4 & 6), they really loved the family bath/shower room.
The room was also perfect: quite big, conveniant and pretty (plus a way to isolate the sleeping area).
The staff was helpfull and made us feel at home.
Small family establishment (9 rooms).
Nothing.

The atmosphere was great, the onsen was fantastic and Bungo was extremely helpful in providing recommendations around Kanazawa. The room itself was lovely and spacious - we got a free upgrade which never goes amiss! Location also brilliant - 20 mins walk to Kenroku-en and 15 mins to the museum of contemporary art.
The wifi connection was a little slow, but other than that wouldn't change anything.

Awesome location in easy walking distance to Omicho market, Kanazawa Castle and Kenroku-en. The onsen was awesome, especially after a long rainy day, and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It was my first experience in a ryokan and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Bungo was so accommodating and friendly and was a wealth of information on things to do, see, and eat while in Kanazawa, and my only regret is that I couldn't stay longer. Bungo's restaurant recommendations were *fantastic* and some of the best meals I had. Highly recommend!

Bungo and his mother run the Ryokan together, they are incredibly friendly and helpful.

The spa downstairs was fantastic after walking whole day. Mr. Bungo was really friendly and helpful at the front desk. The building itself was 150 years old. A modest style ryokan with basic facilities.

This ryokan feels like staying at your Japanese grandmother's house, it's a kind and cozy feeling. The owners are so kind, Mr Bungo and his mother. Mr Bungo gave great recommendations for local places to eat around the hotel and he also patiently helped me fix a confusing situation with my next hotel. His recommendations and help made my time in the town so much better! He called ahead to restaurants to make sure they were able to receive a non-Japanese speaker and he helped smooth the way in many situations to make sure I had a good experience. You can feel that Mr. Bungo and his mother are proud of Japanese culture and want to share it with you, you really feel that they give you hospitality from the heart. My room was spotless and very comfortable with a lovely view. I travel a lot and I find staying hotels often stressful but I slept so well here.
that I had to leave!

A wonderful, traditional room that was surprisingly comfortable. The family that run that place were incredibly lovely, and helped us navigate a fun day filled with activities. They also helped book some activities for us. 100% recommend and would stay there again if i travel to Japan.

Lovely little Ryokan. Big room, fabulous bath. Staff are very helpful and made reservations for us at an Izakaya around the corner. Great location- just down the street from the fish market, the castle, and the old district.
I found the futon a bit hard for my old hips!

bungo the owner/ manager/ main guy there is awesome. full of knowledge, humour and always readily available to help. as an inexperienced ryokan traveller who speaks little Japanese he was fantastic and making sure I was ok and that my plans for my visit Kanazawa worked. The ryokan was traditional, clean and friendly. I love them so am easily pleased but I had a great time. thanks Bungo and Ryokan Yamamuro.

We loved this ryokan and the hosts!
It was definitely the highlight of our trip.
Firstly, the rooms are huge, clean and warm. The beds are comfortable and there are beautiful two piece summer kimonos waiting on the bed for every guest. There is also a green tea set in every room and the host continually has kettles (thermos) with warm water ready by the reception, so you can always have a new batch if you run out of the one in your room or gets cold. The room gets cleaned every day, even our kimonos were folded and tea set replaced. There is a film- like japanese bath downstairs, which you can enjoy as a couple and have it all on your own.
The host was kind and a true embodiment of the word ‘hospitality’. He made us feel at home, he spent a lot of time informing us about different places to eat, various experiences to have and has a super google map he prepared with pins in various restaurants and coffee places he recommends, which he shared with us. After Kanazawa, we wanted to visit Takefu knife village, so he spared time to call different places there to make sure it is open and to find out more information for us. He is very detailed and was very keen on making sure we felt good.
He talked to us about his family and the heritage and answers sooo many of our question on Japan.
I would highly recommend this ryokan, as it is the most beautiful way to get fully immersed in the japanese culture!
Everything was just perfect!

Bungo-san (the host of this property) is very helpful and has good tips for restaurants and sightseeing and isn’t hesitating to tell it in english for visitors.
The room was nice, our first ryokan and we loved it. There are Yukatas in the room and always tea on the table, you can pick hot water at the 1F for your private tea time.
We had a really good time there. Thanks you!

This is a family run Ryokan. They are caring and treated me with great attention and care. As tourism returns, please consider staying with them. Location is 10 minutes from market and historical district. A 5 Minute bus ride to JR and bus station.
Nothing! A wonderful place to stay with truly kind folk.

Everything is really typical Japanese ryokan style. We felt like going back to Showa era. The clerks are super nice. The location is pretty close to good cafes and shops. We had a really great time with my family.

It was close to different restaurants and main sightseeing areas. Yamamuro-San gave very valuable information on local sites and talked about the history of his family, Ryokan, and fruits grown such as fresh plums that have been growing for over 100 years!
I didn’t like that I didn’t more time to enjoy the visit! Haha

This is an incredible family-run Ryokan.
Private room "Botan" was ample and comfy, with a nice and relaxing view to the garden.
Owners were incredibly kind and super nice with us. Gave us some tips of places to go, activities and where to eat.
Private Ofuro was a nice surprise.
And all major attractions are reall close by.
If you are looking for a nice Ryokan at the heart of Kanazawa, this is just place to stay.
Nothing really. Of anything, the option of having a classic Ryokan style dinner would be nice.
