Hotel Margot House Barcelona

Hotel Margot is located on Level 2 of a large apartment-style building directly opposite Casa Batlló. This type of hotel setup seems quite common in Barcelona. It is only about a 5-minute walk from the nearest Metro station and bus stops. The hotel is on Passeig de Gràcia, a beautiful wide avenue surrounded by impressive architecture. We also felt very safe walking around the area at night. There are plenty of shops, cafés, and restaurants nearby. The room we stayed in was spacious and very quiet. The mattress was firm and the pillows were comfortable, just as we like them. The hotel also has a large and comfortable common area where guests can read and relax. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Veronica. She provided us with maps and useful information about the attractions and tourist buses, which made sightseeing much easier. Overall, we felt very welcome, comfortable, and relaxed during our three-night stay. The excellent location, quiet and spacious room, and friendly service made it a pleasant stay.

One thing to be aware of is that there is no courtyard at the hotel, although some of the photos on Booking.com gave us the impression that there might be one. Also, a hot-water kettle is not provided in the room by default. We only found out from the staff shortly before checking out that guests can request one. It would have been helpful if this information had been mentioned when we checked in.

The location is excellent and works very well for almost any type of stay in Barcelona. The concept feels more like a residence or guest house than a traditional hotel, which gives you a more authentic experience, almost as if you were living at one of the city’s most desirable addresses. The bed is very comfortable, and the quality of the sheets, towels, pillows, and amenities is excellent. Another highlight is the reception team, who are extremely attentive, friendly, and always ready to help.

As with many European hotels, the rooms are small. If you are traveling with large suitcases, there is very little space to open, organize, and close them comfortably. The bathroom is also extremely compact, even by European standards, and in this respect it does not quite match the price charged. It is also worth paying attention to the “interior” room category. There is no outside view, and the room can feel very enclosed, even slightly claustrophobic if you value natural light or windows. The air conditioning works very well, so temperature is not an issue, but if you do not like feeling closed in, I would recommend choosing another room category. Another point that may leave guests questioning the overall experience is the common areas. They are beautifully decorated, with tasteful furniture, and unlike the rooms, they are very spacious. However, they do not seem to have a clear purpose or offer much practical use for guests. Given the available space, these areas could be better utilized and add much more value to the stay.
