Ocean View Beach Resort - Kalpitiya

Fantastische Lage, direkt am Strand.

Stayed here two years ago, absolutely love the place, and I am not even a kitesurfer, but fun to watch in the morning while having breakfast.Food was lovely. Rooms are basic clean and comfortable. In this place is even better in off season,so quiet and great for swimming.Love the place.

Nothing to complain about except mosquitos and that's normal in a tropical place.

This is the first time I visited Kalpitiya although it isn't that far from Kuliyapitiya, my home town. So I was both excited and a little apprehensive about it. I was excited because it's a new destination. My apprehension was about whether the place would be worth a visit and whether Ocean View Beach Resort was the right pick. No sooner had I stepped in than my apprehension evaporated like dew in the sunshine. The staff made me feel welcome and put me at ease. Even before taking a shower, I stepped outside and strolled over to the beach some 50 metres away. A little later, I walked all the way to the kitesurfing point on the lagoon past the Mangrove conservation project and across the famed Sand Route. To cut a long story short, Kalpitiya simply enthralled me. Talking about the hotel, food was delicious and worth the price. The beach was just over the hotel compound and visible from outside the room. The staff was friendly, courteous and exhibited professionalism in serving both me and other guests there. It was a wonderful stay there and I would definitely recommend this hotel to any traveller, local or overseas who wishes to explore the beaches of Kudawa, Kandakkuliya and Kalpitiya

The location - a beautiful beach set setting far from the madding crowd.

A part from the location - everything. No warm welcome - which made us feel so unwelcome. Room was basic - that’s ok but the bathroom was filthy. No toiletries as advertised - none arrived even when requested. No towels - again had to ask. One light - the other had no bulb - again we requested it and it did not arrive. We felt the place was unloved - it could be so wonderful with tidying up, fixing all the broken things - a warm welcome. Even at breakfast - we were told ‘from 7.30am’ - so we went to the little dining room - no one about. No one appeared for an hour. Breakfast was fine but it put us off having dinner there so we spent our evenings at Windy waves resort where they had a much better ambience, food, cocktails. As we left, the owner was quite humble and I do feel guilty writing this review - but it has to be said. I am not asking for a lot - just the basics, clean and everything that is advertised - and most important of all - a big warm Sri Lankan welcome.
