Gwango Heritage Resort

The staff here were a real highlight — friendly and welcoming across the board, from the bar staff and waitress to the main reception team. That said, when we first arrived and asked reception for information about Hwange National Park, they weren't able to offer much — worth noting if you're relying on the hotel for trip planning. The evening meal was reasonably priced, though the menu variety was a bit limited. On the plus side, a lot of thought has clearly gone into the buildings — the lounge and swimming pool area in particular are well designed. The hotel was quiet during our stay, with only a few other guests, which gave it a nice, homely feel. We did have a small issue with the shower not working, and when we asked reception for help, the staff struggled to think outside the box to resolve it.

Overall, a good price, nice atmosphere, and an excellent location, with good food. The one area for improvement would be a bit more experience in the on-site management team.

Great lodge near the park entrance. We even saw a group of elephants come and drink from the well that they near the fence.

Lovely facilities, fabulous pool area, attentive and helpful staff. Meals, breakfast and dinner were good, wait staff, excellent.

On the fringe of a heavy transport transit route, noisy at times. Such a pity for a lovely place.

Everything is good : staff, food, swimming pool overlooking water spot for animals, nice rooms, good safaris…

But the current detour to repair the road (which is going to last months until somewhere in 2027) implies that all trucks are passing in front of the lodge. We had road noise until late at night, in afternoons, and rest was not an option. Not the fault of the hotel, but i cannot recommend until the new road reopens.
