Not good location and no breakfast.

Janete runs a very nice guesthouse in which she herself lives, It's in a residential neighborhood a 2 km walk/drive from the central plaza and has gated parking. There is a pleasant garden guest area with hammocks, table, and couch but the indoor television room into which you enter the house felt like her private domain even though it may not be meant that way. When we first arrived, I asked about cooking dinner in her kitchen (not mentioned in the listing) and she said "No, that isn't included." An hour or so later she offered use of the kitchen, but I didn't use it because her earlier answer caused us not to go grocery shopping. A pair of other, pre-existing guests came home and appeared to be cooking a simple dinner there. The room was larger than minimum, with an outside window but no screening. Air conditioning is not provided but at 800 m elevation a room fan was adequate the night we were there. There was no balcony (as stated in the listing) or direct exit to the outside in our ground floor room The listing, when carefully read, says an exceptional breakfast is available for US$4 (presumably, per person), but Janete seemed to say no breakfast was available when I inquired. She did offer free coffee in the morning and some fresh guava juice from her garden the evening before. She speaks no English which may have led to some misunderstanding as to her offering. At US$34 per night (January), we would have stayed longer but Janete was booked up for the next night. Credit/debit cards not accepted.
