Aravanes

The hotel is on a cliff overlooking the valley. Our room had a beautiful view. The room itself was very spacious and well decorated. No noise from other rooms. There is a taverna in house for a great breakfast and good Cretan dinner. The price you pay for all of this is pretty astonishing. I would have been fine paying triple what we did, and making a detour specifically to stay here.

There is not really anything else to do in the tiny village. So it's an experience suited for those looking for peace and quiet or a nice base for outdoor activities in the area.

We initially planned a 2 night stay but liked it so much we stayed longer! Eleftheria is a wonderful host and it was a pleasure to meet her and her family. We stayed in the family room with terrace. This is a traditional village house which has been renovated to include all modern comforts but still retains the quirky layout. We both enjoyed sitting on the terrace looking out to the moutains. Sunrise over mount Ida was a highlight for me. The taverna provides a good choice of excellent food and drinks at reasonable prices. The view from the taverna looks down the Amari valley and is stunning. Breakfast is delicious with a good variety of very tasty food. Eleftheria provided a great deal of information about the local area. We enjoyed following up on some of her recommendations . I also enjoyed some dips in the pool which also has views of the moutains and was a great place to relax and read. This is a great base for relaxing and enjoying the local area and the hospitality that only Crete offers.

Ideale Lage, um sich im Landesinneren umzusehen und Ausgrabungen anzuschauen. Sehr schöne große Zimmer und ein großzügiger Pool verwöhnen den Gast.

Nice place, beautiful area and fantastic view. beautiful garden with small kids playground. Very friendly staff. good restaurant.

We didn’t get a room but an apartment that was split between a kitchen on the second floor and our room on the third floor connected by steep tall steps outside. If you want to to make tea or coffee at night or early in the morning, you have to dress, walk downstairs to the kitchen and back to the room. Rain or sunshine. Also hauling the luggage to and from the room was challenging.
