This is an amazing apartment with an amazing host. The property is incredibly spacious with a living room, separate kitchen diner, master bedroom upstairs, two bathrooms. It has an open terrace upstairs, but it has a gorgeous little balcony overlooking the square (great for a glass of wine and people watching). The location is amazing, it's in the middle of the charming old town and literally a 2 minute walk to Chania harbour. But best of all has to be Stavros, the wonderful host. He met us on arrival and showed us around, he gave us some great recommendations for restaurants which all turned out to be utterly perfect. And when he found out it was my birthday he went to the local bakery to buy me some pastries for breakfast and brought them back to the apartment for me. Both the apartment and the host exceeded all expectations and I can't recommend this apartment highly enough. Thank you Stavros!
Nothing not to love!

We personally liked the location. Steps literally onto the main courtyard of the city center. Access to shops/restaurants, very convenient.
No access for taxi to drop you off at property. Drop off is at main road and you have to carry your luggage through a crowd of people. The steps up to the room are steep and narrow, fine with no luggage but with luggage it’s a challenge.

Best apartment stay ever! Very spacious and not cluttered space. Enjoyed people watching from the balcony. Good location. The shower pressure was good, washing machine &a.c. functioned properly, comfortable mattress. Host was out of the way welcoming. Highly recommend!!
Great sound insulation for all the noise of the square except from a band (only happened 1night and the host can't change that)

Stavros is the best host I have ever met. Thank you.
Will definitely be staying at your lovely place again and would highly recommend it to the others too.

Beautiful and spacious apartment in the centre of old town. Stavros is an exceptional host. Honestly the best. He’s so generous and kind.

The location of the apartment really could not have been better for what we were after - directly overlooking the church and the square. The balcony is a perfect spot to soak up the atmosphere, people watch and enjoy the sunshine. Stavros, our host, honestly could not have been more welcoming, helpful or charming. It is his family home (the house in which he was born in fact) so he knows the area as well as anyone and is able (and very willing) to give advise and answer literally any questions you might have. He really was a great help in making our holiday what it was.
Nothing to add here really. There isn't a dishwasher but that isn't a negative - just an observation. We didn't cook much anyway but some people may be expecting one. There was nothing we didn't like about the apartment and the bed was comfier than our bed at home.

We could not have asked for a better place to stay than Casa Irene! Stavros is the best host we have ever met - he thought of everything to make the stay that much better. Our days in Chania were cloudy and rainy but we didn't mind because the apartment was such a wonderful place to stay and was so central. The apartment had everything we needed in terms of amenities and toiletries; the location was perfectly central (but not loud as you're in the church square and the soundproofing of the house is great); the bed was very comfortable; both balconies were lovely; laundry was very much appreciated and as mentioned, all the ways that Stavros went out of his way to be an amazing host made this probably our favourite place we've ever stayed. Don't hesitate to book this apartment!

Wonderful place, we loved everything about it. The location could not be better and the apartment itself is beautiful and spacious with a great balcony. The host was really helpful and checked in on us to make sure everything was okay and to offer recommendations. Our favourite place in Crete. Could not fault our stay here at all. Fantastic!

location was fantastic. The space was fully equipped with everything we needed. The host was wonderful!!

Fantastic place right in the middle of Chania Town. Comfortable, convenient and even though its in the middle of a busy street it's relatively quiet!
You can walk down to the harbour in 5 minutes and there are lots of fantastic bars & restaurants nearby.
There is a small balcony to sit and people watch. The apartment itself is spacious, cool, relaxing and has everything you need.
Stavros the host is a really friendly and helpful guy. Nothing was a problem for him and he gave us helpful advice for all our questions.
There's nothing we didn't like. In response to other reviews, yes the stairs are a little steep coming into the apartment but not a problem at all (unless you have difficulty walking). There is noise outside but you should expect this in Chania Town. The apartment is sound proofed so it also wasn't a problem for us.

Incredible location in the heart of the old town with such a beautiful setting to sip wine on the balcony. the apartment was spacious enough for the two of us plus our 4 month old baby. Stavros, our host, was the nicest man and helped us with everything from start to finish. Anything we needed, we just messages and he was more than happy to help. he honestly made the whole thing so smooth.
The stairs were tricky with a baby because they are so narrow. But don’t let this put you off! we managed it just fine and the apartment is worth it.

We had a fabulous stay at Casa Irene and we highly recommend it to everyone traveling to Chania. The apartment, location of the apartment and the generous host and hospitality of Stavros made the stay really memorable.
The apartment was clean and ready when we arrived. Stavros was there personally to hand over the keys and ensure all our needs were met. A generous platter of bread, butter, cheese, coffee, fruits, juice, beer and a wine bottle was there for us when we arrived. The location is right in the middle of the old town really close to pretty much everything. We liked it that way as it meant we really could try out different restaurants. The kids were out in the square late in the evening while we could have coffee or glass of wine still being close to the apartment incase they were tired or wanted to sleep.
Stavros was amazing with his generosity but also with plenty of suggestions on the beaches to visit in Crete to picking restaurants for us.
All in all just superb stay and highly recommend to families.
The location of the apartment in the middle of old town means there is going to be noise from the street till 11 pm atleast. Closing the windows does block the noise to some extent but it never bothered us. The stairs to the apartment can be steep for some people with mobility issues and the families with kids should ensure the gate to the stairs is always locked for safety purposes especially if you have young children.

The location is really great, get up early, leave the town and go to the beaches or nice places outside Chania, then come back to enjoy a crowded square from the balcony sipping a beer or a glass of wine! Take a shower in one of the 2 nice bathrooms and the enjoy the liveliness of the city with all kinds of restaurants, cocktail bars and live music! When you arrive for the first time the host makes sure you have some stuff ready for you waiting in the fridge, how awesome is this!
It could be a bit loud in the evening, but that is what you can expect when booking this nice place in the middle of the city center. If you close the doors of the balcony it will help a lot :)

The host paid attention to every detail. The property was gorgeous, with beautiful touches everywhere. It was beautifully located in the center with an amazing view from the balcony. The host was amazing, helping me with every question I had. He even stocked the fridge with basic groceries, a bottle of wine wine and beer.

The place was more spacious than we expected, and very clean. There were some nice touches, such as foods in the fridge, dressing gowns in the room and lovely decor. We were about 20 minute walk to the beach and the city with amazing food was on our doorstep.
The host was available and helpful but not imposing. Stravos listened to what we wanted from the holiday and gave us some great recommendations!
We plan to go back next year!
There was music played outside until 12 some nights. This wasn’t a big deal for us, we listened to the music in the balcony.

We had a very comfortable three night stay for two people. The apartment is very spacious over two floors. It has a wonderful balcony right over the street. Stavros was very hospitable and even left food in the fridge for us. We’ll be back!

We absolutely loved our stay at Casa Irene! We stayed here towards the end of our summer Greece trip and it has to be our favourite place so far. The most beautiful apartment in the best part of the old town. There really isn’t a better part of Chania to stay in. The view from the balcony over the square is so beautiful. If we ever end up back in this beautiful city, we will once again be staying here. Stavros is the kindest host who is always around for any help you might need. He gave us great recommendations and was so lovely to chat to at the start and end of the trip. We all highly recommend you stay here as it simply is the most beautiful place.

The property is absolutely amazing and Stavros was the kindest and most gracious host I've ever met! The location is spectacular. The apartment is in the center of Old Town and less than a block of the Venetian Harbor with a fantastic view of a beautiful church across the square. The apartment itself is absolutely spotless and beautifully decorated but also very thoughtfully stocked with anything that you could possibly want by Stavros. The refrigerator had fruits, vegetables, meat, cheese, water, beer and even a bottle of wine! There's even a washer in the upstairs bathroom that we were excited to use after almost two weeks of travel. We even had coffee so we didn't have to run out first thing in the morning to get out caffeine fix and could enjoy the view from the balcony early in the morning. Our ferry was delayed on arrival and we got to the apartment very late and Stavros set the code for the door and left the keys for us with detailed instructions on how to get in and even texted to make sure that everything was ok and we didn't need anything. He stopped by the next morning with pastries to make sure everything was ok and to our liking and even told us that his family has owned the apartment since after WW2 and his grandfather was the one to put in the beautiful hardwood floors! I'm not sure that I have ever had a better renting experience and would be delighted to return in the future.
Everything was absolutely perfect. I wouldn't change a thing.

The interior decor, the location and the fantastic host. Blessed by the perfect location (the center of the center, on the square facing the Basilica) they added exquisite interior decor and a dedicated, kind and proactive owner/host... umbelievable...

Everything about the property was utterly perfect. From the location, to the layout, to the high quality furnishings. However, what really made this property stand out was Stavros. He went above and beyond to make our stay incredible and was helpful beyond belief. He is probably one of the kindest people we’ve ever had the pleasure to meet, and Casa Irene is truly fantastic property but with a host like Stavros, Casa Irene is the crème de la crème.
Nothing. The property is outstanding.

Lovely apartment located in the very center of the old town of Chania. Stavros has always been there during our stay to assist us for any question. The fridge was full when we arrived on the first evening, he helped us to solve administrative problems, he was also there the last day to help us with our luggage,…The apartment is very clean, very well equipped and suitable for families. A place we highly recommend.

My partner Tim and I loved Casa Irene and Stavros. The location is the best possible. The apartment is centrally located on a pedestrian through fare. The apartment's balcony looks onto the main square and the Greek Orthodox church. An ideal location to view Chania life.
Casa Irene is a haven of tranquility and comfort. Absolutely immaculate. Comfortable sleeping and quiet with window glazing and quality AC.
When we arrived Stavros had filled the refrigerator with everything one might require. There was enough food to feed us for days. How kind and generous. The interior of Casa Irene is very appealing and comfortable. Two full bathrooms offer luxury.
Stavros has to be one of the most dedicated and honest hosts ever. He is available and wants to help his guests have the best possible holiday. He certainly contributed to our travels in Crete. We were so pleased with our stay we are considering Crete for a several month stay. Thank you Stavros and Jianni for making our first journey to Crete such a happy memorable time.
Impossible to fault in anyway!
