Riverside Arashiyama

I really liked the room and the bed was very comfortable. I particularly liked that the entry to the room was on concrete, because ~ Rain, and I liked that the bed and the rest of the room was elevated. It really helped keep things clean and tidy. The bed was probably one of the best I've slept on while in Japan. I was there for a month and had several different places I stayed so it was easy to compare.

I was very disappointed with the breakfast. Relative to all the 4 other places I stayed, this was easily the worst. Every day it was three different bread options and this really surprised me, especially considering the cost of the stay. I realize to some this may be a non issue but when you've seen the standard elsewhere on repeat, it was such a bummer.

Location everything in walking distance , outside patio with tables by the river.

Excellent location. Great Staff. Big rooms. Very comfortable beds.

Taxi’s and Ubers if not local had difficulty finding it.

Great location for an early start to see the bamboo forest before the hoarded of tourists. Lovely places to walk nearby. Lots of space in the room.

Very far from Kyoto, absolutely nowhere to eat in the evening, room wasn’t cleaned in the three days we were there, presence of a Doberman around the hotel the first evening made it very uncomfortable. A small dog braking in the room next to us on the third evening was also very annoying. No view from the bedroom as the windows have mottled glass. Photo of lounge area on booking was misleading- it’s now an office, so nowhere to relax apart from room. Felt like a very strange experience and I regretted not reading the reviews in advance. We left early.
