ArArAt Hostel

We stayed at the ArArAt on Sept 29th, 2026. We had a late bus and didn't get to the building until about 8:30pm. The proprietor was very gracious to wait for us, to check us in that late. The hostel is on the 2nd floor of an office building with a secure entrance - you will have to let the proprietor know ahead of time when you will arrive, so he can be waiting to press the button to let you inside the building. The place was spotlessly clean, he takes tidiness very seriously. We booked a double-room with a private bath. It was a large room, but the bathroom is very small, more like a closet than a "room". But everything was clean and comfortable, we had no issues. There is a shared kitchen, but we did not utilize it (we went out to eat). The room does not have air-conditioning, but the fan in the corner kept air moving nice... our room stayed comfortable all night long. I would also like to commend the proprietor for having a small loveseat and TWO CHAIRS in the room... this is the only hostel/alburgue on our trip that had TWO CHAIRS in the double-room. For some reason, all the others have only one chair for two people?!!? I really appreciated having that extra chair!

Our particular room (room 6, I think) faced the busy street. At 3am the city garbage truck came by and woke us up with all the clanking and banging. The bed could use extra pillows. The double bed had one 6ft long pillow for two people to share.

The Hostel was extremely clean and well maintained. Close to grocery shops, laundry facilities, and eateries.

All good.

Great location, good value and made to feel welcome upon our arrival . Clean and great facilities .

Decent location just outside the old town. The fellow that checked us in was nice and thorough. We did use the shared kitchen to store some yogurt which was helpful.

I was expecting a private bathroom and clearly missed that it was simply that there is a shower (and sink) in the room. It is an extremely small shower and sink built into what was likely a closet.
