From the moment we arrived at Pondok Masa Depan we felt at home - the hosts (owners) Ayu and Bagus were so welcoming and generous spirited. I enjoyed a morning cooking course with Bagus, learning a few delicious Indonesian classics, and our stay was relaxing in the tranquility of this restful haven.

We spent two nights in this lovely place. Ayu and Bagus made our experience extraordinary. The Pondol Masa Depan is located in peaceful nature - but without any mosquitos. The bungalows are very comfortable and are equipped with a few thoughtful details. We enjoyed very enjoyable massages, foot reflexology, cooking class with Bagus and his delicious cuisine. Moreover, we experienced a beautiful praying ceremony in the morning with Ayu. To discover Sidemen including the waterfalls, the golden bridge and rice fields, we rented a scooter. Additionally, we hiked Mount Agung, which was an exciting experience.

Ayu and Bagus are amazingly hospitable and wonderful hosts. They make you feel right and home and have great recommendations about the surrounding area. Bagus is an excellent chef and literally everything I ordered off the menu was incredibly delicious. They also have the cutest dog, who is super affectionate, well behaved and will make you feel right at home!

This perfect little guesthouse is nestled in the rainforest and run by a lovely couple who are keen to organise trekking, massages and other activities. All the ones we did were perfect. the hospitality was warm, and they were only too happy to organise motorbikes, treks, drivers and lots of other things for us (including a blessing and offering ceremony with a local priest). Overall we felt like we had a very unique insight into Balinese life, facilitated by wonderful hosts. It is very good value for money, and the home cooked food is delicious. overall it’s a great place if you want to be sure of a good night sleep, full stomach, and easy access to good activities in the area.

Words wont do justice the experience I have had in Pondok Masa Depan. There are these places that you know will forever stay in your heart, for me this was one of them! I have stayed for two nights and my stay was absolutely amazing. I felt so welcome. During my stay I have experienced an authentic Bali. Already by being within this kindhearted family; but also thanks to the experiences I had in creating the offer and the offering in the temple, with the healing water purification, the trip through the rice fields with Bagus and their amazing dog and the massage of Ayu. On top of that, Bagus is a professional in the kitchen. During my stay I enjoyed all my meals in the Bagus restaurant. The dished are true soul food. Simply amazing. Sad I had to leave, but incredibly happy I encountered this authentic healing piece of earth in Bali!

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights at Pondok Masa Depan. Ayu and Bagus were lovely and caring hosts. We even did a cooking class with Bagus which was lots of fun. The property is luscious and green and very private off the main road. They have a restaurant so you don't really need to leave at all however we found Sidemen to be very spaced out so if you're wanting to head over to the main part you will need a Scooter. Definitely recommend a stay here!

Very different from crowded areas like Ubud or Seminyak/Canggu. You can get even more in touch with the nature and have some quiet and relaxing time, with some yoga, massage, and wellness too! Very friendly, family run place where they greet you with “welcome home”. And this delicious mango juice!

This place is wonderful a real taste of Bali. The hosts Ayu & Bagus with their family make you so welcome. We had the sound healing which you also have a traditional blessing it was amazing. Take an early trip to the temple and join in with the prayers Ayu will dress you for the occasion it was so much better than just taking photos. Ayu explains everything also. We also visited the children learning the traditional music and dance close by which you must do as you can join in it was great fun. The lady who runs it was wonderful. Would definitely recommend a stay in the jungle. Plus Bagus is a trained chef so we ate every meal with them which was fabulous we also had a cooking lesson! Worth every penny an unforgettable experience 🙏

Nothing not to like, it's basic but clean and comfortable.

Ayu and Bogus were excellent hosts. Ayu’s kindness and Bogus’ food made our stay perfect and we felt like at home.

The property was a bit hidden so if you are planning to be picked using any taxi app it will not work. In our case, Ayu called her brother who kindly offered us a ride to get to our boat in Padang bai. There are also local taxis to consider.

Beautiful jungle cottages managed by wonderful, kind people. Amazing gourmet food and authentic cultural experiences with massages, traditional healing ceremonies, cooking classes and immersion into Balinese village life. You really need to visit in person since words cannot convey totality of healing experience of being here:)

The combination of healing, amazing food und the lovely and kind energy of the place and the family. I could relax, nourish myself in combination of the treatments and food. The place is so peaceful and my bungalow was really comfortable and cozy. I booked my room for the next month - again! Perfect place for healing and relaxing.

Bagus and his family were the most friendly hosts we had on our trip. Dinner prepared by Bagus was excellent. Room was clean and cosy.

Nothing to complain about

The owners and family were exceptionally welcoming, friendly and accommodating. The property grounds and the accommodations are excellent. The homemade food was delicious and great value for money. The owner took us on a hike through the beautiful surroundings, through rice fields and plantations, which was one of the highlights of our trip to Bali.

The accommodation has a fan, but no AC, and gets quite damp.

Highly Recommended! My stay at Pondok Masa Depan was so much more than beautiful accommodations. This was an experience that encompassed healing, positive energy and genuine Balinese kindness. I felt so much "at home" connection with the owners and the surrounding land while at the same time enjoying my privacy at my villa with comfortable bed and fluffy pillows, private bathroom and patio with mountain and jungle views. Much gratitude to Ayu for organizing and accompanying me on a variety of local excursions ranging from spiritual to outdoors activity and her husband Bagus for preparing fresh, healthy food in an inviting outdoors setting, either sourced from their own garden or local market in Sidemen.

Nothing! I enjoyed every moment of my stay including the owners incredible hospitality and kindness, accommodations, excursions, walking through the gardens, gastronomic food selections and connecting with Mother Nature. I just wish I could have stayed longer......

Thank you Ayu and Bagus for taking us into your beautiful life for the weekend. We really enjoyed Pondon Masa Pendan and the stunning guest house you have built. You have such a spiritual place and it was an amazing experience to have both the chakra reading and then the following healing massage. I slept like a baby afterwards. And thank you Bagus for taking me with you to the market in Pasar Sideman the next morning. What a great market, not to mention the beautiful ride through the Sideman valley to get there. Your cooking is amazing and I felt almost part of your family when you gave me the cooking class and all your family was there too. What a team and what a great family.
