Hotel Silken Villa de Laguardia

Superb location. Excellent food and wine and staff very friendly and efficient. Dog friendly (but see below) lovely spacious room with balcony. Swimming pool and spa available (but we did not use)

What I'm about to say did not spoil our overall enjoyment of our stay and the hotel really is superb - hence the high scores. HOWEVER. The hotel is indeed very dog friendly, providing a dog bed, water bowl and treats. Dogs are also allowed unaccompanied in the room but you have to sign a dog policy waiver when checking in for any damage the dog does etc. The only issue is dogs are NOT alowed in the restaurant. That's fine if you have good weather and can use the terrace, but our first night was too cold for outside. We didn't want to leave the dog in the room so were seated at a table IN reception for dinner - with people coming in and out, milling around and using the lift. So not really an acceptable ambience for a nice meal with excellent Rioja wine! Same issue first morning with breakfast. Second night weather was good and we could eat on the terrace and we made the decision to take our buffet breakfast to our room 2nd morning and eat on the balcony which the hotel allowed. I did take this up with Silkken and suggested an area behind the staircase (currently with sofas and chairs) that dog accompanied diners could use - which they say they will look into. So perfect if weather is good. Not so much for dining if it isn't!!

Great location, lovely views and a swimming pool which was a bonus in Laguardia! Plenty of sunbeds and shade and room around the pool. Staff were helpful.

Hotel is a little dated but that did not take away from our experience. No irons available, to have anything ironed you need to send it away the day before which I found very unusual!

Its location, value for money and comfort.

The location was great, so near the beach and cafes

As it was on a main plaza with building works it was noisy which meant we needed to keep the windows shut. It was so hot it really needed aircon. The fans were so useless that they hardly blew out any air and were super noisy. I asked for better fans (not a big expense) but was told they were the only ones they had in sticky. It made for sleepless nights! The apartment also had a broken blind and a bulb out in one room.
