The bungalows are beautiful, the pool overlooking the beach is also amazing, the staff can’t be faulted and the whole of the complex is just wow

Nice pool area on the beach. Staff were nice and organised taxis as well as tours, rooms were big and AC worked well.

WiFi was awful, and the room lacked necessities, it only had 3 beds in and nothing else (no shelves, chairs, table, kettle etc). The place was also full of tour groups so it could get quite noisy while they were running activities at night and it was hard to socialise (as they all already know each other). The location was a bit out of the way of everything and all taxis, no matter where you go, cost 150 baht per person which made it quite awkward/expensive to get anywhere.

Location was great- rented a scooter and drove around to the best beaches and local restaurants nearby. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The garden room we booked was fine, however we upgraded to the ocean view room for half our stay and it was 100x better. Even the garden view room bed was less comfortable, however still good value if you are on a budget. The shared pool was always clean and had an amazing view of the beach & ocean. The food / drinks were fine if you didn't want to leave the hotel.

Bed wasn't the most comfortable, no body wash/shampoo provided.

Jasmine was so friendly. The poolside room was really spacious for 4 friends. The pool was right in front of the beach and had stunning views. Helped us with a taxi to the free in the morning. Had a mini gym and massage

There were some ants in the room but they were tiny and didn’t bother us.

Very lovely staff who is happy to help you wherever they can. The decorations with the love to details were just so cute and at night at the beach you got a view that looks like a rip off from a movie scene! The restaurant serves some very good food, I recommend you try the Burmese salad! Near the Hotel (just a 5 minutes walk) is a Night food market with lots of very good food from around the world and live music.

In the dorm you have to get used to some little ants crawling up and down the walls. But as long as you don't have food in your bed, they leave you alone. That's part of being in the tropics! A towel for the floor in the bathroom would have been nice, so the floor isn't wet that often from showering.

Staff so helpful, lady at front desk really was so friendly. Right on the beach and pool so clean. Food served was delicious and cocktails too, at regular prices. Room so clean and comfortable. Dave the dog and Steve the cat also a great welcoming party!

Best to rent a bike to get around the town.

Gorgeous area, food places and 7/11 in walking distance, lovely pool, big outdoor yoga area (that was definitely my highlight, loved doing yoga in the mornings in this amazing scenery!) Thai food at their own restaurant is really good (I had couple different vegetarian dishes and in my opinion better than some nearby places). On top you can do laundry there and they sort out bike rental for you. Hot shower and nice room. Gree water refills all over the property.

nothing to complain really, maybe the pool area could be cleaned from the sand a bit better? but that’s really a minor thing.

Gorgeous place to stay. Staff, food, location all amazing. The best cocktails I've had on the island! The pool even stays cool when it's super hot outside which was a great treat. Would 100% recommend and go back!

the dorms are not so nice, much better options elsewhere for the price. I hated the sound of metal rings on the metal rods of the curtains on the beds any time anyone closed or opened their curtains. I got so many bug bites in my sleep despite wearing spray. The bathroom is wet everywhere and kind of gross. I recommend spending the money for a bungalow if you’re gonna stay here and go elsewhere if on dorm budget

Like a lot of resorts on the island there was a constant soundtrack of Muzak in the bar and round the pool. I prefer to be able to just enjoy the sound of the sea but that’s a personal thing.

The Location & pool is amazing and they have the nicest and most helpful staff, the ladies at reception try everything to provide the best service!

The garden bungalows are a bit basic. No windows just mosquito nets. A kettle & a fridge would have been very nice and there is no room cleaning.

Beautiful peaceful place to stay, nice restaurant with good food and drinks, lovely pool overlooking the beach, room was basic but perfect for what we needed the only thing extra we would have liked is a fridge as our drinks heated up quite quickly. Staff were very friendly helped us rent a bike, with information about half moon party and booked a taxi for us. They also had music and body paint for us at the bar area. My boyfriend lost his wallet and the half moon party and went to reception and one girl in particular went above and beyond to help us get it back and it was eventually found she also booked a taxi for us to go to the peir outside of her work hours. I cant remember her name unfortunately but thank you!

There were 2 lizards outside our door both nights we didn't mind them as theyre good for catching bugs but some people might mind?

Sarana Bungalows was my first stay in Koh Phangan. As a first time solo traveler, I booked this stay because it is situated right next to my Kitesurfing school. The staff was super friendly and easy-going; they made sure my needs were met, helped me with scooter rental, and were very easy and quick in communicating through the app. The room is nice enough and in line with the price you pay (clean and comfortable, but basic :-)). The location is superb and the food is cheap and super tasty (try the massaman curry!), which is why I would recommend this place to anyone solo traveling to Koh Phangan!

Just a couple of ‘nice-to-knows’ for solo travellers: not all rooms are equipped with a fridge (mine was not), but they do offer bottle refills with cold water at the place, as they’re very focused on creating a sustainable environment. Furthermore, this place is quite popular with group travellers, who often come to the island to party and can cause a bit of noise disturbance. It was easy enough to meet other solo travellers on the main road, but my expectations to meet more people at the stay were quickly quashed. However, if you venture to Thong Sala and the east coast (Zen beach etc.), you will surely have a blast here!

The bedroom and bathroom were spacious and clean. WiFi was good. Pool was great with a stunning few on to the beach. The food was sooo good, especially the pizzas!! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Added bonus of free paddle boards, gym and yoga hut! Very good value for money.

The room would benefit from a few extras - fridge, safe etc.

My partner and I travelled Thailand for 3 weeks and this was the only hostel we stayed at during that time. Staying at Sarana was our favorite (even compared to some expensive hotels) BY FAR. Incredible location right on the beach, friendly staff, couldn’t fault it at all especially given the price. We plan to come back to Thailand again just to come back here for a week we had such a good time. Highly recommend hiring a scooter and spend a few days exploring up and down the coast. We will 100% be coming back to this specific place.
