We have come here for the past couple of years and always enjoy it immensely. The location, amenities and homey feel are what keep us coming back. Thanks for a great vacation!

Great location and home was well furnished. Other than a difficult lock box to open and initial problem getting TV to work, it was a great stay.

Excellent property, very nice location with short walk to the lake, beach, pool and tennis court.
Thank you!

Clean, well appointed, plenty of room, excellent location with pool essentially in your backyard. Parking can be an issue if you need more than 2 spaces on a weekend since the auxiliary lot fills quickly. House could be spiffed up a bit(storm doors, painting), but we really appreciated their switching to regular cable TV instead of Roku(we rented the same property last year).

First, let me start by saying I am a VRBO host myself.
Second,I grew up in this area so I knew the location was perfect.
Third, let me list why I would never rent this house again. Bathtub faucet was broken and water would not shut off, soled carpets, ratty furniture like there was a dog at one time, dirty kitchen (meat stain on the cutting board and greasy) roach poison out, air conditioner was too cold for first floor but did nothing on second floor so second floor was extremely hot, no dark shades/curtains (just one room) mattresses in 2nd 3rd bed room were uncomfortable, windows were so old, hard to open/close. All around dirty walls, sliders, appliances and the vacuum bag and nozzle was plugged up full so we couldn’t fuse it. I left it cleaner than when I arrived.

We were looking for a quiet area to vacation along with vacationing with my son who has 4 kids 7 and under. The accommodations were perfect as every adult had their own space. It was not far from the beach and and a great walk around the complex. We also weren’t far from my son in The Birches. Worked out great for all of us!

Four children ages 3 to 7 had a great time at the beach and pool. The pool was especially nice. The house had nice features for a rental, (fireplace, bbq, deck). There were a few minor problems with the home that need fixes. The front storm door was broken, the vertical blinds in the dining room needed fixing, the solarium off the dining room has a leaky roof (rain water gets on floor and glass table), and there was a screen on the game room door that needed fixing. But aside from these small things, the house was a nice experience for all of us.

My family and I vacationed at this beautiful home in South Down Shores this past July. We have stayed at theee different properties and communities at South Down Shores over the years. This by far was are favorite. The Home is located in the Gables Community and the homes, back yard and community pool area are gorgeous. The home was neat and clean upon arrival and so spacious- we had more than enough room for my husband and I and our four children. The master bedroom and bath on the first floor was so convenient and the kids had the second and third floors to themselves. We had a beautiful private deck and from there it’s just steps to the pool entrance. Our weather unfortunately was not the best but the home was so spacious we didn’t feel cooped up, Netflix and Hulu was a huge plus as well as the game room fully stocked with lots of games that we all played together. Lastly, having central a/c was sure a huge bonus for us as it was extremely humid all week. I can’t recommend this home enough!

Our stay at South Down Shores was great in its entirety, as the area itself is wonderful for a family vacation. Great neighborhoods for walking, beach area, pool for the neighborhood (though, not heated) playground and very quiet (especially during the week!) However, the home we rented is in great need of some attention! First, The unit was not properly cleaned when we arrived! Though 'clean' can be a subjective term, my husband and I (with our 1 year old son in tow!) spend an hour and half upon arrival vacuuming all floors, carpets, washing bathroom floors(!) and furniture! The living room furniture is old and used and I just felt uncomfortable sitting on it as-is, so I draped all the furniture with sheets for the time of our stay. I also went out and purchased our own bedding for the master king bed, including new pillows, to use for our stay. The pillows and bathroom towels were simply atrocious. They need to be thrown out and replaced, as well as as the master bedroom bedding as well. The kitchen is in great need of a deep clean (inside the cabinets, kitchen drawers, even the cabinet doors felt "sticky" to open. The wall to wall carpeting on the stairs and the second level is stained. The bath mats in the second floor bath were dirty, had to wash those as well. The front glass storm door does not shut tight nor stay shut so we had to either risk mosquitos or keep the interior door shut, which led to the place feeling dark. **the unit was listed as having cable television, but please note, as there were about 10 stations (and roughly 5 of any use/interest) this is not full cable television, no kids stations, so owner should modify listing as very basic cable** . The outdoor umbrella for the patio table was in the basement and broken, so there was no sun protection during the day to dine out on the deck. I was disapointed in this unit, especially for the price, and will not rent this unit again. ** I also think the owner via the management company should refund our cleaning fee (at very least) as we cleaned it ourselves...the best we could!**
Also, the outdoor space is not suitable for a young child starting to walk as the back yard is basically a hill, and also needs attention. There were patches of poisonous mushrooms growing just off the deck so I wouldn't let my son walk around out there.
We are interested in returning to South Down Shores for a future vacation but not to this unit given its condition.
