Great ocean front cottage. Perfect location, great price for what you get!!

It really made a difference being able to load and unload on each floor and not having to carry everything up the stairs. Spent the week of Thanksgiving in this cozy house on the beach with gorgeous views. The location is also extremely convenient for golf, shopping, restaurants and all supplies needed. Perfect for wonderful time and conversations together.

The location is stunning and the property is in great condition. However, the house next door is in the process of being built and that was rather unfortunate. Our dogs did not want to go outside during the day due to the noise and spent the first few days cowering under the beds. The construction crew blocked our driveway a couple times and we had to ask them to move and pretty much got laughed at. There were also surveyors coming onto our back deck and property, which caused me to delay proposing to my fiancée a day... (She still said yes!) All that being said we still had an awesome time and loved the property and its amenities.

This year, the home was run down, rusted, dangerous rusted nails sticking out of boards on decks and walkways (which one of our family members was seriously injured on). We did not receive our towels and after contacting both the linen company and Carolina Shores as of Wednesday we still had not received them - this was halfway through out stay so I went and purchased them. On Wednesday I was issued a $145.00 charge for towels which has yet to be refunded even though we were told it would be. Although I know that homes are the owners responsibility, coming from a property management family, it is also the rental companies responsibility to communicate to their clients what is not acceptable when paying $5200.00 a week for a once a year vacation.

Could use some updating, but only the lack of faster internet speed was the worse. The house was clean, kitchen well stocked and loved having the extra counter space at the wet bar. Sitting in the deck chairs on the top deck was our favorite spot for enjoying the view. The only thing that upset me about this whole thing was finding this on VRBO only to find out it is listed through an OBX agency as well which is the agency I actually dealt with. So I feel like I got cheated out of money. Having to pay VRBO a deposit and then paying Carolina Shores. If this is the owner’s decision I think it’s horrible. I will definitely not make that mistake again.

We had no real issues during our stay, I'm just suggesting upgrades because we can get homes comparable to the location and price that have had upgrades. The deck is worn and there are too many nails popping up enough from its base to make it uncomfortable to walk around barefoot. The kitchen works well enough but the dishwasher is so old and junked up that even with running a double cycle the dishes and pots did not come out clean. Don't know if it is all the dishwashers fault or the that kitchen ware needs to be replaced too. Like I said, no dire problems during our stay but for the price of it, we can find another home with more modern upgrades.

Summer Winds had everything we needed. Great house beach access was great as well. Loved the area as it was quiet but so close to stores and great restaurants!

The upstairs living area is spacious and open, the bedrooms are a decent size, and the proximity to the beach can't be beat. The fact that we could bring our puppies (and that the property had gates for the deck and every room) made it even better. We could walk or take a short drive to restaurants, bars, and shopping. Excellent place to stay and we will be back!

We loved the open floor plan on the upper floor and the beds were very comfortable, which is a huge plus! We were a bit confused using the remote for the Dish TV, but a quick call to maintenance had us watching TV in a few minutes. Great customer service! Kudos to the owner for thinking of everything to make it feel like home and the perfect pet friendly rental. Already booked our next stay in a few months.

This is our sixth trip to KDH. This was by far the nicest house. Seems like it’s in the transition of being updated and still lots of room and the decks are great. We prefer the empty and open beach and we had that every day. Close distance to some of our favorite restaurants as well.

We loved how close this house was to the beach, but unfortunately, the property is extremely out of date and needs to be deep cleaned. There were lots of unpleasant smells in the house, mold in some of the bathrooms, and a problem with cockroaches. We won't be staying at this location again and would recommend that the owner/company updates and deep cleans the property.

Amazing location only seconds to the beach; perfectly located between Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills; property manager was prompt; tons of deck space perfect for enjoying sunrises.

The location is in a great area surrounded by some of our favorite restaurants. The house had plenty of comfortable seating to take in the great views and the beds were very comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Fantastic location with easy access to the beach, plenty of parking, and a great outdoor hot tub. Everything you needed was inside and lots of sleeping space (more than we needed for a family of 4). WiFi was solid and allowed for virtual school and work. Would definitely stay here again...

We spend as much time as possible on the beach & hanging out on the upper deck watching for dolphins. It's close to shopping & a wide variety of restaurants. Each year we discover new favorite places to shop or eat. Surfin' Spoon & Pig Man Barbecue are always a must when we're at the OBX. Customer service is exceptional & we appreciate that. Looking forward to next year!
