Everything, wonderful small Ryokan. Very traditional.
The onsen in the room , the public and private bath, everything was perfect. The dinner delicious.
Traditional breakfast was a bit hard for us, but of very good quality.

Staff were amazing and so nice. Traditional experience was excellent and room and food were amazing. Little english spoken enhanced the experience for us. Loved the onsen experience also. Would love to do it again.

Room: The room was beautiful loved the ryokan experience!
Sauna: You get a one-person fitting sauna in your room! It was great to visit after a visit to the onsen.
Onsen: The public onsen had NO ONE when you get there right after check-in so I felt like we had a private onsen experience. The private onsen you get to reserve (first come first serve) was great too but I think the public onsen was much prettier.
Staff: They speak little English but had no problem communicating with them by hand gestures! And a cute grandpa stands outside welcoming all the reserved guests! Sho cute<3
Food: The dinner and breakfast experience was awesome. They are visually pleasing and it comes in courses which was v cute:) but the food quality and taste wasn't great. Its just for the experience.
Room: I went during the winter and I am not sure if our heater was broken, but it was SO COLD in the room... and you don't get extra sheets or anything :(
Morning: If you are not a morning person, the breakfast experience might be hard. The latest they serve breakfast is 8:30AM, which was the time frame I reserved, but that means they come to make your bed and get your room up at 8AM. It was hard for me as a nonmorning person to be woken up and have to eat so early. But again, the experience will be unforgettable.
Small things: The neighborhood goes to sleep by 8-9PM-ish so nothing is really open. Be ready to spend all your time within the Ryokan. Which is what we did by going to the public onsen, (1) reserved private onsen, sauna, and (1) 1st come 1st serve private onsen. But they give you ONE towel and doesn't give you another one even if you request for it, so plan wisely and dry your towel or you will be wiping in drenched dowels lol

Dinner and breakfast was delicious.
Service of the staff was awesome. (they helped find my child's soft toy that got bundled with the bedding when the bed was made in the morning)
Experienced the atmosphere and "vibe" of Ryokan
Easily access from train station
you can clearly see the building and facilities are dated. (but that's part of the charm as well)
the running river outside could be noisy for some, but it can be soothing for others. depends on individual preferences

It’s a perfect ryokan. Don’t be deceive when you reach there it looks small but it extends all the way back! Picture perfect.
Stairs, not the hotels fault tbh. But it’s really not suitable if you have senior citizens with you. Or check for lower floors rooms.

Having a private Onsen in our room was wonderful. Using the Onsen was the best part of our stay. The room looked old but the AC functioned well. This was really needed as temperatures were in the 90s.
The facility is quite dated and our room smelled of mildew. The room was not cleaned during our stay and it needed it given the humidity. The bedding was old and stained. Staff was not very welcoming or informative. The meals were pretty but didn't have much taste. Not the fault of the ryokan but if you have expectations of hotel-level service you will be disappointed given the cost and the fact you have to pay in cash.

For foreign visitors,no worry about speaking English, staffs are very well about that.
Dinner and breakfast are delicate and delicious. Location is very convenient to the station, while Lawson and shops are nearby.
Highly recommended.

The room is huge! This was shocking considering how most places in Japan are tiny.
There is no elevator so you have to trek your suitcases up multiple flights, dragging it across carpeting and one part of the hallway felt like the wood was about to fall through. The breakfast and dinner was meh - nothing felt fresh. The fridge was full of drinks you can buy, so I had no room for the stuff I brought from the konbini. I booked the room with a private onsen in the room, however the photo they used to advertise this room was a complete lie - there was no mountain view. I had a view of other hotels/houses so I couldn't leave the blinds open (to let air into the onsen) or people could have seen in. The onsen itself felt a little dingy and I didn't even want to sit in it. This would have all been fine if the room was $100-$150 a night, but for $400 I am extremely regretful that I booked this stay.

The stairs are too steep. There is no hand rail for the steep stairs. The dinner is ok, not too good. Most staff don't speak English. The onsen facility is very small and not comfortable. The restroom smells bad. The ventilation fan did not work.

If you want to experience traditional Japanese bed and breakfast, you can't go wrong at this place. The building is 100 years old but the rooms have AC. Great service, nice bathrooms with hot springs (my picture is our private bathroom.) We very much enjoyed our stay.
They only take cash for payment.

the location was convenient and clean
the value was lacking and the food was not worth the total price of staying. the baths were also very lackluster comparatively to others I have been to before.

The vibe is wonderful. All staff service is first class. Everyone is so friendly. Once you get used to their above standard polite manner, you will feel so much comfortable. They also have many type of bath and if you not feel like to use a public bath, you can book your private time. Breakfast and dinner serve in the room. All meals is memorable. I missed this place definitely.
The location is a bit far from the train station. The place is traditional ryokan so they don't have elevator or escalator. Staff might not help you with the heavy stuff. (not their fault) You have carry it up and down on your own. So be prepare.

conveniently located, friendly staff, quaint, wonderful meals
Room was on top floor and no elevator so hard on old legs.

Spacious room - had separate dining/sleeping area, a private bathroom and also a private onsen.
Good location - about 8 minutes walk to Hakone Yumato station, easy to manage even with luggage.
Kaiseki meals - we stayed for 3D2N and hence had 4 meals (bfast x2 and dinner x2), all of them were varied and equally delicious.
Staff spoke minimal english (only 1 speaks fluently) but were all friendly and we were able to get by with google translate.
Open air onsen was abit dirty - could see small leaves inside occasionally.
The dining timing esp for dinner was abit restrictive - as a result my travel around Hakone/Fuji was hurried because had to make it back by 7pm for the dinner (the latest timing).

Exceptional customer service, amazing spread of food that is brought to your room for you, spacious accommodation, view of the river, peaceful ambience. Great experience overall
Little bit of a walk from the station (we walked past the main entrance and had to double back😅) and going up flights of stairs was tiring for us as we had heavy luggage
6.0
The meal was nice and there were a few good onsen options. It wasn't too hard to get to and it was super close to a nice river.
There were stains on the mattress and the toilet in the room our friends stayed in smelt very bad. The place seemed old and run down in general with chipped painting on walls and stains on the tatami. The hotel staff were somewhat terse and abrupt and not very foreigner friendly.
