The garden villa was enormous, and had its own heated pool, which was the highlight of our stay. Beds are comfortable as you’d hope in this price bracket. The restaurant had a couple of decent western dishes which the kids liked, as well as good local food. Staff were friendly and did their best to help. They even managed to find us a couple of decent bottles of wine.

It would have been high luxury when new. The exteriors are all quite shabby having not really been maintained. The main pool isn’t heated so not for use at this time of year (December). The riot gear behind the lobby counter is a somewhat sinister touch...

The location of the hotel is amazing. We had a beautiful villa on the river. Very comfortable.

The property is starting to be a bit old, and it shows. For example, the wifi works poorly, and the sound system has a plug for iPhone IV! Food could have been better: lots of quantity, but could be better on quality.

The pool was lovely. Kevin and Christina in the restaurant were both so incredibly helpful and really made our stay a much better experience.

There were many issues with the hotel. Some of the staff were incredibly unhelpful. For a 5star hotel they needed a lot of guidance on how to provide good service. For example, they had only one type of wine available and the wine they did have was not kept chilled. It took nearly two hours to check in, the check in desk was a mess, we were provided with no water after travelling all day. Luckily for us, we complained, a lot, and after nearly 3 days things began to change. I definitely, would not recommend this place if you're looking for a relaxed holiday in China.
