I was only staying overnight before travelling on an early morning train to Granada. I missed the train to Madrid in the afternoon but the owner of Hostal Mayor was very accomodating with the change in checkin time and made every effort to meet me at the door and help me to the checkin desk. Then again, she was up to help me get off early to Atocha the next morning.
Very clean bathroom and linens, comfortable bed.Great location.
You have to accept you are in central Madrid, a city that never sleeps, so the fact that I was there during a festival I expected to hear celebrations and cleaning up in the street.
Madrid is very expensive for the style of accomodation you pay for. I can't complain about Hostal Mayor - it's all expensive.

Great location, clean, comfortable bed, and pleasant hosts.
We reserved a room with 2 beds but when we got there they said they only had rooms with double beds. My friend and I had to sleep together which definitely was not the plan.
