Beautiful position amongst the trees in Sawmill Settlement. The house is a really cool design and build and bathrooms are lovely. The kitchen is modern and very well stocked with utensils and kitchen equipment. I meant to leave a note for the owner that it appears queen bed in room without the ensuite may have broken slats on the bed as the couple in that bed said they kept falling into gap so might be worth checking. Would be lovely base for hiking too.

We had a lovely stay with two families at Darren’s place and couldn’t fault it. Beautifully designed home and extremely well appointed. Location is fantastic in a quiet corner of Sawmill Settlement. Darren was very helpful with the booking and self check in was a breeze.

We had 4 nights at Sawmill Settlement. The house is very well equipped, clean, warm and comfortable. It is a 20 minute drive to Mansfield so you need to be organised with food - the fridge and freezer are sizeable and there was a good selection of condiments and general items if you forget something. Overall a great stay and would recommend for a group of friends/family.

It was a clean place
However, we did expect milk/milk powder to be provided for morning tea and shower gel at least considering how far the place is from convenience/grocery store
Also some of the items in the pantry were expired and outdated for example olive oil bottle was expired (photos can be shared ).

Beautiful escape
The property was clean, warm, quiet and beautifully situated overlooking bushland. We had a wonderful stay. Darren was great to communicate with. We were however a little disappointed that supplies weren't provided or a description as to what we needed to bring was not provided given Mansfield was a distance to travel to (e.g. coffee pods for coffee machine, soap and shampoo). In our experience these items and more have been provided whenever we have rented previously. Otherwise we loved our stay at your beautiful home. Many thanks

After the year 2020 has thrown at us it was just what we needed. Great location to just chill out and reflect on a year that has been.

We had an amazing stay here. So close to Mount Buller. Was a great base to get to the mountain. House was very comfortable and big enough to fit two families easily. Thanks for having us!

Big Beautiful property
We stayed at the cross river retreat in sawmill settlement. It's a large and beautiful property that suited our group well. We enjoyed our stay very much. Our suggestion for improvement would be to include instructions for the house including, Wifi passwords, local food options etc. (We eventually found the wifi password on the router)

The perfect escape
This place is an absolute treasure. I stayed here during a work stint in Mansfield and was fortunate to find this little slice of heaven. The house is beautiful and luxurious whilst being warm and comfortable. The house looks even better than in the photos. Clean and spacious with a fully-equiped kitchen that was perfect for cooking at home and dining amongst the gum trees on the balcony. Everything had been thought of. Perfect location to explore the river and nearby trails. Will happily return and highly recommend.

Great location very peaceful and so close to Mount Buller, with unbelievable access to the epic bike trail and other tracks. 9 of us in the house and it worked so well. We had a great time!

Great house to base your bike trips. We stayed here over the long weekend and it was a fantastic base for using the many tracks and trails around Buller. Very comfortable, with views across the forest and valley. Great watching the sun go down, as we had dinner and drinks after a long day! Highly recommended.

This house is beautiful! A fantastic weekend escape with plenty of room. Everything we wanted – warm, cosy, clean with great views of the forest as well as easy access to Mt Buller. We will be back in summer with our bikes.

Unfortunate end!
If you are looking at this property please do note that it is still in the process of being built therefore there are parts still unfinished. (August 2017) There is no mention of this whilst making a booking. Myself along with 7 other friends stayed at this "retreat" for the weekend while we enjoy Mt Buller skiing. I have to say, the location is great as it doesn't take too long to get to the mountain. We did enjoy our stay here however on departure, we all are extremely dissapointed by the owners decision to keep $100 of the bond for a broken toilet seat which DID NOT occur during our stay. Upon received this email we asked for photographic evidence which came back with the slightest chip on the back of the toilet seat. Moral of the story, check over everything in this property before staying so you don't end up like us!!!!

Treetop luxury
We stayed here during the Queens birthday long weekend and didn't want to leave! This brand new architecturally designed house is a pleasure to stay in. Secluded at the end of the street and surrounded by nature, the whole family was able to relax immediately and enjoy the surrounding environment. Already booked our next stay, can't wait to come back!

Amazing Property
The house was everything we expected and more, beautiful design, warm and every comfort was catered for. We could not have wished for anything more perfect. We loved the beautiful deck amongst the mountain ash forest and we even had a koala calling to us!
Our stay here was fantastic! With a large group, we never felt crowded. The upstairs loft space was perfect for the kids and the outside decks were our favourite to admire the forest and wild parrots. Perfect location for hikes and bike rides around Buller and Mt Stirling when you’re not skiing.
