The location of le Relais de galets is unparalleled. It is perched on a cliff above the Dordogne river, deep silence only broken by the sound of birds and rushing water. Both spectacular and beautiful. Evenings and mornings spent reading in the garden overlooking the view were very restful and special. We loved our huge, comfortable bed and the bathroom was also large and elegant. The kitchen as hub of the house ( if you’re not in a suite) is a cosy farmhouse style place to eat exceptional dinners and fresh, generous breakfasts. Jane and Duncan could not have been more thoughtful and generous; the food was exceptional.

I’m not sure there was anything. If we came back I think we’d try to book a room with a sitting area but it wasn’t actually a problem as the weather meant we were able to sit comfortably outside.

The house itself was beautiful and in a great location right next to the river (a 15 minute drive from Domme) - a great place to use as a base for exploring the Dordogne. Our room had a very comfy bed, warm shower room, and a walk in wardrobe. Duncan and Jane were very pleasant and helpful.

This is a unique property. It is more like a bed & breakfast than a hotel. That is, the atmosphere is informal, and you have the opportunity to interact with your hosts and the other guests. Our room was extremely comfortable, including a marvelous bed. There are many places to sit from which to enjoy beauty of the natural surroundings. Our host Jane cooked an exquisite meal for us on one of the evenings of our stay.

This property is the most idilic, tranquil, breathtakingly beautiful B&B stay. We were completely blown away by the exterior as well as the interior of this property. It has spectacular views that can be seen from many spots around the grounds, as well as rooms that are designed with such thought, consideration and craftsmanship. Le Relais des galets is a family run property and from the moment we arrived we felt at home. The hostess, Jane, made sure we were happy with everything, that we knew all the right information as well as providing us with suggestions of where to go, eat and drink. We sat and chatted to Jane on many occasions and for us it felt like we were just talking to an old friend. The room was amazing! We were on the top floor, which had balcony doors that opened out to see the view of Le Dordogne as well as the gardens. The bedroom was comfy, quiet and large. The ensuite bathroom features a shower and bath, both of which we loved. We watched the sunset from a terrace around the side of the property and we kept saying "It doesn't get better than this". My partner and I were travelling around France, only staying at places for 1 night. One of our biggest regrets from our trip is that we didn't stay in this place longer. We will 100% be back and would happily bring the whole family. You are a short drive away from many towns, least of all picturesque Domme. We didn't get to enjoy this stay to it's full potential due to our fast paced schedule. We plan on correcting that in the near future!

What an amazing place! Some of the best views I have ever seen over the Dordogne river. We had a lovely evening meal cooked by Jane, and breakfast was great too. I would 100% recommend and would love to come back one day.

The campsite on the other site of the Dordogne is allowed to play loud music a few times per week until midnight. What a shame for such a paradise.

What an absolutely beautiful place Jane and Duncan have created. Amazing accommodation in a spectacular location. We were made to feel so welcome and after spending four days in such beautiful and relaxed surroundings it was difficult to leave. Our room was fabulous and the bed exceptionally comfortable. Jane was a wonderful host and went out of her way to ensure our stay was perfect.
