Coach house hotel

Good location for Gatwick airport. Room good and roomy and dinner was good freshly cooked. Staff polite and cheerful.

Bathroom basic. Car park overcrowded with cars squeezed in for long term parking. Lack of receipts.

The staff were friendly and polite throughout our stay, although the service felt more transactional than personal. The location was ideal for our visit, as we were staying nearby to see friends in Royston, and it provided a convenient base for our trip. Check-in and check-out were straightforward, and the room provided the basic facilities we needed for a short stay. The room was basic, which is what we expected having booked a last-minute stay on a budget.

The bed was quite hard and would move and creak whenever you turned over, which affected our sleep quality. The mattress and pillows did not appear to have protective covers underneath the sheets and pillowcases, which raised some concerns about hygiene. The shower also differed from what we expected. It had a shower curtain rather than a glass door, and we noticed a few small hairs in the shower tray on arrival. In addition, there was no restaurant menu or information provided in the room, so we were unaware that food was available during our stay. At breakfast the options were limited, which would have been fine if the quality of the produce was better.

Quiet room, easy parking, good dinner menu, cheerful helpful staff.

Bathroom a bit cramped - a shelf for toiletaries would have helped.

Breakfast good, bathroom poor
