Very spread out hotel rooms a long way from restaurant and reception

Location was good, easy to reach from A1M Evening meal nice

Hotel is a little tired in some public areas and navigating a sprawling building was frustrating as layout didn't seem to flow. Separate Reception areas for spa, pool, gym and main reception. . It's obvious some conversions have been done in some areas since it's days as a DeVere hotel (now run by Q Hotels) . Bar/lounge areas were nice. Spa/pool, - we didn't have any treatments but found the 'health club' pool was very disappointing. Very small for size of hotel and dated. . It was a lovely warm sunny day for our visit and given the extensive grounds it would have been nice to be able to access them from a pool with terrace or at least a view. It's entirely enclosed with no windows and pool can only be accessed from one side of it . We (3 ladies) didn't find it relaxing. Changing rooms adequate, as hotel guests we weren't given robes, just 1 towel issued with no more available once poolside. So not a Spa destination, just a hotel with a pool! It's definitely geared to golf groups which is fine. We selected this hotel purely for it's convenient location to meet up from north and south. Restaurant - we had excellent evening meal and staff here very attentive and professional. Breakfast - standard buffet selection, not very hot, hash browns and croissants like rocks! Rooms - clean and well presented though we all found beds/pillows very uncomfortable. Rather stingy on hospitality tray offering, 2 singly packaged biscuits..... We found fridge/mini bar but no info on charges. Overall - staff here were all excellent. Would probably return just for it's handy location to meet up with family, though definitely not a Spa destination, good value on rooms, skip the breakfast.
