Hotel Villa Orsa

We loved this hotel despite a few issues. A unique hotel, beautiful antique furniture in reception, elegant elaborate black iron work on balconies that stands out, situated along the cliff looking over the sea and islands. The sound of the waves below. Comfortable room with beautiful wooden feature curtain rails and curtains. Several excellent restaurants close by. Very clean room, comfortable beds.

To reach this hotel there is a serious stair case that is difficult to negotiate with luggage, limited vehicle access. Internet not reliable at times. Better in some spots. The breakfast area was largely not under cover, an issue when raining. It needed sweeping as the beautiful wisteria covering the entire open trellis ’roof’ had dropped leaves. Some tables and chairs had seen better days but gave character. Perhaps looking a bit tired as we were staying at the end of the tourist season, the outside areas needed a bit more attention. The breakfast was fairly basic but we appreciated the offering. Nice new bathroom but small shower as many are in Europe. Not much hot water in bathroom but we had nice warm weather so ok.

The room is spacious and it has a lot of natural lighting. The breakfast was exactly what we needed and the view from the terrace where it is served was stunning. I loved that there was also a small 'beach' that was reachable straight from the villa's terrace. The sfaff was also friendly and helpful.

The toilet in the room could be changed.

Perfekte Lage

Das Hotel und die Ausstattung ist schon älter. Aber man darf hier eben auch kein modernes Neubau 5 Sterne Resort erwarten. Besitzer (?) und Personal im Restaurant waren etwas mürrisch. Ein Lächeln würde hier die Athmosphäre verschönern.

Location and views excellent

Breakfast Room and Breakfast itself. The breakfast room was laughable--unbelievable it looked that it had NEVER been swept (hundreds of leaves all over the floor every morning) and none of the tables had been cleaned (the first task was to ask the totally idle waitress to clean the table). Breakfast itself was 1 Star quality. The owner/manager really needs to sharpen up his act by ensuring his staff prepare breakfast room every day and get in some variety in the bland food.
