The meals were delicious.

It was all amazing.

We arrived at TAOYA Kisoji with absolutely no expectations, but the hotel turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of our trip to Japan. The dinner was excellent, with an impressive variety of dishes and plenty of choices to suit different tastes. The all-inclusive concept was a real bonus, with drinks, including alcoholic beverages, included in the price. Everything felt generous and well organised. The onsens were another highlight. Both the indoor and outdoor baths were wonderful, and we genuinely looked forward to returning to them after a day of exploring the area. They were relaxing, comfortable, and a real pleasure to use.

The hotel itself is a little dated, but unlike some older properties, it is clearly very well maintained. Everything is exceptionally clean, tidy, and carefully looked after. You can feel the attention to detail throughout the property. The staff were attentive, polite, and welcoming. Very few spoke English, but this never became a serious issue, as everyone made an effort to be helpful. Overall, TAOYA Kisoji exceeded our expectations in almost every way. It offers a genuinely enjoyable experience and outstanding value for money.

It’s a massive hotel with 90 rooms and everything was exceptional - from the comfortable rooms and super comfy beds to the magical onsen and the wonderful variety of food, which caters to both Japanese and western tastes. The staff were friendly and helpful and the whole hotel ran like a well oiled machine. The massage chairs were awesome too.

It was a little difficult to get there and back from the station at first until we figured out the local buses stop right outside. Once we got the schedule it was easy and not far

Everything was just wonderful and exceeded our expectations. We would have loved to stay longer but we had pre-booked all other hotels on the Nakasendo trail and had to leave after one night. We can absolutely recommend this hotel. It was a real treat.
