We stayed at the Mizunoto for just one night but it was such a lovely stay. The room was very comfortable and well equipped and our private onsen bath on the balcony was lovely. The dinner was absolutely fabulous and despite not getting our first choice of menu, we were not disappointed. There was so much food and it was all delicious. This was the same at breakfast the following day when we were presented with so much to eat and all beautifully prepared. The girl who we dealt with in the front desk was a really delight. Being able to take the shuttle bus from the station was a bonus. It was definitely one of the highlights of our Japan trip.
Information in the room said that no alcohol was served but this was misleading as you could order drinks at dinner.

Everything was perfect! The staff were incredibly friendly, polite, and welcoming. The room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean. We had a wonderful stay!
Nothing at all! Everything was great.

Wonderfully calm place! Clean, relaxing onsen, spacious rooms, traditional dinner and breakfast and after hour snacks. A big thank you to all the staff, especially the amazing Nanako for all her help!

The train to get the the area was beautiful. The hotel has a shuttle from the train station and free sweet potato and water for the checkin.
The price of this place simply doesn't match the experience you get. Both the hotel and restaurant staff seemed to do the bare minimum, which was disappointing, especially considering how much we paid. The rooms were very basic, and we paid extra for a room with a forest view. Unfortunately, what we got was a view of a downhill section of the property where water-pumping machinery was hidden behind some bamboo. Paying extra for that room was completely pointless. Out of all the places we stayed during our trip to Japan, this was by far the most expensive and one of the least enjoyable experiences. The value for money was simply not there. I would also strongly recommend skipping the restaurant. The food was genuinely bad, and you're better off getting something from 7-Eleven, which offers tastier options at a fraction of the price. Overall, this place is seriously overpriced for what it offers. We expected much more for the money we spent and left feeling disappointed.
