Wow, the food, great quality from a limited choice, but no doubt varies during the year. The remote location and the Art Deco appearance add atmosphere to the culinary enjoyment from Breakfast through to Dinner. Fantastic service and attention from the staff and owners.
The external lighting detracted from the remote dark area experience. External lights that switch on due to detection sensors would be an advantage to reducing light pollution. Safety of residents is important and with it being a Dog friendly Hotel, the need in the night for good lighting is clear, but it could be managed more empathetically.

Breakfast was good
Other menus were either over fancy and over priced .
Room was quirky — bedside table too low and li,elihood of head injury due to slopingroofs

Lovely hotel in a great setting. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Steff were very friendly and helpful.

This was our second stay at the hotel. Quality of food was exceptional in both restaurant and brasserie
High price of food and especially drink, cheapest bottles of wine were £35 most much more
Automatic 12.5 service charge added to all incidentals
They were stopping draft beers in favour of bottles, but had limited stock of bottles
Not very good at rendering accurate bill, several errors.

Location was completely unrivalled. Sitting outside with a drink looking at the view was quite exceptional. The staff went out of their way to help and were great.
At breakfast they had run out of one or two items and supplemented them for other things. The Sunday roast beef was a little too rare for us. Otherwise everything was perfect. As a general note the food was exceptional and I am just nit picking!

Stunning location with beautiful views.
Staff were so friendly and we will definitely be returning in the future.
Very out of the way, so quite away from main roads to go out for the day

Breakfast very nice, breakfast staff very friendly as was check in staff. Great bath tub. Lovely building and grounds, incredible view. Good parking.
No mini fridge. Room I was in had glass window to a bathroom with a sky light that had no blinds so room couldn't get fully dark. I'd come to get some good rest and don't like using an eye mask. Room also had TV and couch in sloped roof area which was a bit cumbersome. In the morning I could hear a couple having very loud relations in another room which wasnt that pleasant for me, but that's hardly the hotel's fault.

good views, quiet location, plenty of outside seating
Both check in and check out we’re rushed as the staff seemed interested in other things

Dinner, Location, Building, helpful staff
Room furniture is more shabby than chic - and impractical in some instances. For example my balcony room was great but the solution for clothes storage was impractical - desk bureau for clothes - drawers didn't slide.. No clothes hooks anywhere - a bit awkward.

all was perfect

Perfect location, out of this world views and peaceful.
No vegetarian option (unless I missed that) on the menu, and you have to pay extra for the vegetables.

very friendly staff, stunning surrounds, very comfy place to chill and the food/drink is very good. I would highly recommend this hotel and we’ll be back again to stay
as the hotel in so close to the water it naturally attracts flies, I think could be combated with discrete fly catches or citronella candles

Stunning building, amazing views, attentive and friendly staff.
Could have had more tea options in the room

The staff went out of their way to make sure you had the best time possible.
The food was out of this world. The best meal ever and we eat out a lot. The chef is obviously exceptional.
The location on the edge of Haweswater was very special.
I loved the open fires and the ambiance.
Nothing!

Lovely view in an attic room overlooking the lake, though the windows could have been cleaner to see it through, or the opening mechanism repaired to allow such. A bittersweet experience as the story of Haweswater is, I think, a sad one: a very informative mural map on the wall of the stairs shows how the lake was half the size until 1929 when it was dammed and flooded to form a reservoir. We all need water, that's understandable, but here a long-established community lost their homes and their beloved pub. Having said that the hotel is excellently placed for short walks to either Small or Blea Waters; two of the finest examples of corrie tarns in the Country. It's a shame the night was cloudy as this could be an excellent star-gazing location.
Lack of hand-pulled draught ale, though bottled alternatives are available - albeit at a price not conducive to the thirsty hiker. We knew and understood the restaurant fare before coming, and once in a while it's nice to spoil ourselves, so no complaints there, though the portions when served may give one the impression that they are merely samples.

Nice location, friendly staff
Food wasn't good and only menu option was al a carte , went to bed hungry, neither of us are big eaters so people with a big appetite would be v unimpressed.
Room a bit tatty, plaster coming off walls and lots of cobwebs.

Beautiful location and lovely unique interior.
Cobwebs in the room and dead flies. Also had a lamp that sparked when turned on, told reception and nothing done - genuine safety issue.

Staff superb, location excellent; bar, restaurant, lounge excellent layout and great views. Fantastic atmosphere, decor and setting. The only negative on our visit was the heating system. Radiators were only lukewarm and even with additional portable heaters (the staff went out to a different location to get them) the rooms were quite chilly. The management worked to address the issue and called an electrician out but the rooms remained uncomfortably cold.
The heating system as mentioned above.

superb location, stunning hotel with open fires to sit by with a drink. We would definitely recommend a stay here but needs a few easy tweaks to improve.
couldn’t control the heating in the bedroom, was fine to sleep but a bit chilly to sit in! food was generally very good, inc the cooked breakfast. however had a burger in the bar, very average and expected better quality for £15 with chips extra!!
