We loved the views and convenient location. Fun to walk to the wonderful coffee cafe. The cabin was lovely and well equipped. We hope to return next year.

What a view! So comfy and relaxing. Kitchen is more well-stocked than most. Kayaking and fine dining are walking distance. It was great weekend with my bestie and her two Frenchies. We BBQd and did puzzles and we all piled in the huge fold out in the living room and watched movies and ate popcorn. Just the relaxing time we deserved! And, even though it is a Norwegian Viking house she still let me stay when I told her I was Swedish! Very nice owner.

The split level home was beautiful and the scenery was gorgeous. We could spend hours on the upper deck watching all of the wildlife. We enjoyed our time equally between the colorful towns and scenic beaches, riverways, coves and the charming home we could come back and relax at. We enjoyed great seafood as well as purchasing some more from local markets and making them in the home's open kitchen. We would definitely return and would even liked to try seeing more seasons at the Viking House.

Nice property with beautiful view of the river and ocean. Walking distance to small downtown. Dog friendly. Nicely stocked kitchen. Clean. We enjoyed our stay and will likely return. Only drawbacks were it was not walking distance to the beach and owner's canoe wasn't available for use (legal issue).

Great views and great location!

Can’t beat the sweeping, unobstructed views from the upper deck, perched above the lazily flowing Russian River estuary. There are only a handful of houses on the steep bank in Jenner, with several being part of non-pet-friendly Jenner Inn & River’s End—if you travel with your furry friend, this may very well be your only option!
The house is well appointed, with all the plates, pans, pots, and glasses that you’ll ever need, as well as condiments & spices. There is adequate space for a car right in front & the tall wooden fence very effectively mutes any road noise. Access to the river is fairly steep, but adequate to launch your own kayak or canoe.
The “center” of Jenner, with a gas station & convenience store, Cafe Aquatica (open for breakfast & lunch), and a wine bar & souvenir store, is within walking distance; River’s End with its upscale restaurant is at about the same distance in the opposite direction. Pet-friendly dining options require a short drive to the picturesque Duncans Mills.
We loved our stay & will definitely be back!

The property was great - incredible location overlooking the Russian River, access to kayaking at the property, extremely well-stocked kitchen, nice decks. The owner did some nice treats for our birthday celebration. We would highly recommend this property and would come back again.

Absolutely perfect for a stay-cation (we live an hour away), or anybody who wants some quiet time by the ocean and Russian River. Not a ton to do in Jenner, but that's the point. Bring some books, some wine and cheese, and hunker down. Diane was the consummate host. Very responsive and accommodating. p.s. if you're a foodie, don't forget to make reservations at River's End (a five minute stroll away)!

We stayed for over a week and enjoyed the fabulous view on both sunny and rainy days. The setting cannot be beat. The house afforded us the opportunity to cook — great fish is just up the road. The wood burning stove warmed up chilly mornings. We enjoyed our stay. .

We had a wonderful weekend in Jenner. The location is perfect for exploring the coast. We brought out kayaks and could launch right from the property into the river. (Kayak rental is also just. down the street). Located close to excellent beaches and Jenner headlands for hiking/ trail running. We would absolutely stay here again.

Located directly on the river. Beautiful view. Nicely furnished. Very clean. Seals and pelicans visit routinely. Walk to Cafe Aquatica every morning for a warm scone. Nearby beaches that are seldom crowded. Perfect spot for a quiet vacation.

The location is Beautiful. You can watch the sun rise over the river, and set on the ocean. Plenty of birds landing on the river to keep you entertained. Great river access and close to the beaches. All around a charming house.

This cabin was more than we expected! Darling, clean, fully stocked with everything we needed and more. The deck overlooking the river and all the Pelicans flying by each day. Walking distance to Town and River's End. What a gem! We definitely want to come again!

Jenner holds a special place in our hearts, and The Viking House was a wonderful place to stay during our most recent visit. The location is perfect, with panoramic views of the river and the ocean. We spent much of our time on the deck overlooking the river, watching the wildlife (pelicans, otters, seagulls - and even an extremely close encounter with a beautiful osprey). The house is beautiful, well-furnished, and felt like a home away from home. We are grateful for our opportunity to vacation here, and we look forward to our next stay at The Viking House!

The reviews led us to believe that this was a great rental. Not so much - for a whole list of reasons. Lesson here is to not necessarily bank on good reviews

My wife and I have stayed at The Viking House many times. The property affords you a great location and a relaxing home while you are away. The river views from the deck along with the wildlife make the experience. Otters, seals and the waterfowl were enjoyed.

We loved this little house, it was perfect for the whole family and dogs. We brought our paddle boards since the river behind the our is connected to the beach. Got to paddle alongside the seals in the river and our dogs loved to sit on the balcony watching all the animals and people on the river.

The house is immaculate, beautifully and thoughfully decorated - clearly loved by its owner - well equipped and in a great location on the river. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

Another Wonderful Time
My hubby and I stayed at this home just a month ago, and couldn't wait to return - so we DID. The house is cozy & comfortable with a rich, interesting history; and the view is breathtaking in both directions (ocean / river). The host is instantly available and very helpful. A more quiet and peaceful place could not be found; this morning we watched a family of deer wander into the river as sea birds circled overhead. It's truly a unique location and home. Wish we could give it more than 5 stars!

Viking House - an ideal getaway
We couldn't have asked for a better home base than the Viking House in Jenner, CA. The home lives up to its billing -- clean, comfortable, welcoming, and well-appointed. The home is secluded without being isolated -- the serenity of the river view and how the home is tucked away from the road provides the quiet environment perfect for relaxation, while the ultra-fast wifi keeps you as connected as you want to be. Diane is a gracious and responsive host, providing detailed instructions in advance of arrival, leaving helpful guides/tips throughout the property, and answering our many questions to ensure we had the best stay possible. And that we did. We could ask for nothing more of Viking House, other than hopefully another stay in the future.

Perfect location
This location was perfect and fit our needs quite well. You could easily have 4-6 people at this house as it’s rather large for being water front. What was fantastic was that there is river access from the back yard and it was dog friendly. We enjoyed kayaking on the river and then walking up the stairs for a break. Overall, the location was wonderful, house had everything we thought we needed, and it was a great long weekend.

This home is SO charming and comfortable, and the views are stunning. At night, the moonlight on the river was magical. And during the day, we watched seals swim by toward Goat Rock beach from the beautiful deck.
The hosts have truly thought of every imaginable amenity. And don't miss the Guest Binder, filled with fun personal info about the history of this remarkable house (as well as the town of Jenner, and the surrounding area). A sense of history, family, and "calm" pervade this home, and my hubby and I came home SO rested! We can't wait to return, and have already re-booked for next month.

The Viking House is perfect for a visit to Jenner! It is exactly as pictured and described in posting...actually bigger! Very comfortable and perfect location for visiting surrounding towns.

The house was perfect for us, and the pictures of the gorgeous deck with panoramic views of the river do not lie! We spent most of our time just sitting on the deck and enjoying the view. There is also a fenced, highway-side front yard which was great for letting the dogs out to pee without having to walk them on leashes.
This house would be great for a couple or maybe two couples, but 6 people would be very tight unless they knew each other well — there is only one bedroom with a door that closes. It was just the two of us, so that was perfect! Wi-fi at the house worked fine, but be aware that there is almost no signal in the surrounding area, so be sure and download or print maps/hiking trail info/ etc. in advance. Also, be advised that you definitely need a car to stay here — you can walk about half a mile in either direction along Highway 1, but beyond that the shoulder narrows such that it isn’t safe to walk, so you need to drive to most beaches and hiking areas even though they’re a short distance away.
This house is super quiet, and double-paned windows eliminate any road noise. The nice propane grill and wood-burning fireplaces were lovely touches, and the bed was very comfortable (I am picky!). We would definitely stay here again!

My husband and I had a fantastic two weeks hanging out on the deck at The Viking House. We slept on the pull-out upstairs in order to wake up to the magical morning view. The location is perfect for exploring the wonderful hiking all along this part of the coast. The photos don't show the full bathroom downstairs. It has a shower with a shower stall that has a great flow. No neighbors were staying while we were there so our experience was ultra-quiet. We even saw seals swimming by on some mornings. Many touches of magic abound in and around this house...

Excellent location for those looking to kayak, bike, and fine-dine. I was there for my birthday with 2 friends. Easy check-in, super clean, everything that’s needed is there including coffee! Right on the river by the mouth to the ocean. Walking distance (5-10min) to restaurants and coffee shops. Stayed for 2 nights, but feeling as if I was a world away. Thank you and looking forward to coming again!
