Hôtel Château Tilques

Lovely setting, historic building, receptionist in the morning was a joy and really gave us a great start to our onward journey\

Bit of a mix up over booking for dinner so we used open table and got a table for the time we wanted - could have been handled a little better by the staff when we booked in but didn't ruin the stay

We booked 2 double rooms, the beds were very comfortable and the rooms well equipped. We booked a table for dinner in the restaurant. The food and service were both top quality. The only downside was that, as the restaurant got busy, it got quite noisy due to the mainly hard surfaces in the room but this is only a minor quibble and in no way spoilt our enjoyment of the evening.

The shower in our room was getting a bit tired and would benefit from a refit with more modern, easy clean materials but again, this is a minor detail.

Lovely location. Comfy beds. Half board available and the food was great. Perfect for a slightly "extra" last nights stay before heading back home- it's only 30 mins to the Eurorunnel.

Patio tables and chairs covered for winter with canvas. Was only September and a lovely sunny warm day when we stayed- such a shame as would have been a lovely spot to sit and read with a drink. Check in should be a bit earlier. 4pm is quite late in the afternoon.

Beautiful property and grounds in a quiet and peaceful setting. Very friendly staff and clean comfortable room. Wish I could say more.

Disappointing restaurant. This is France - perhaps expectations were higher? That would be the only mitigation. Family-friendly menu choices - but in such a luxurious setting, should a menu feature burger or sea food linguine (in semi-rural France)? Cooking was competent. Quality of raw materials questionable. Staying as half-board guest, most items on the menu entailed a supplement. Restaurant staff helpful and efficient, but I could not detect any enthusiasm about what they were delivering from the kitchen - unsurprisingly. Dining experience totally forgettable. Breakfast was ok with some local produce (jams) featured.
