great staff, beautiful location

cosy, friendly staff.

insufficient heating - actually none at all - so winter was quite uncomfortable. the towels felt wet all the time. The food was underwhelming to me.

Breakfast was great. All the meals were great! All the amenities were great, too!

No wi-fi in the room. It's great that it was available at the lodge, but I would have liked an option to have wi-fi in my room, also. It would be worth paying extra for it

We came here for the safari and it didn’t disappoint. We had six amazing game drives with Themba and Golden - absolute legends - where we saw plenty of animals from Leopard to Rhinos and everything in between. We had Aubrey to look after us throughout our stay - again, legend - and basically all staff there from management to housekeeping were just so amazingly kind and helpful. The 10-rating is without a doubt because of them.

We understood that the lodge is now around 8 years old, and time has taken its toll on the lodge and accommodation. While the doors to the room did close, it didn’t do so properly, leaving gaps between the door and door step which could easily fit all sorts of insects and bugs. We also had holes in our blankets and towels, which of course is a minor detail, but given the price point should be an easy thing to fix. Besides that there were plenty of small details from which you could see that the place could definitely need a refresh. I would definitely recommend the Simbavati Hilltop, but come here for the staff and safari and not for the accommodation.

Sitting in the top of a hill facing the reservoir, you can easily spot animals from your balcony. Refreshing pool.

- Not really comfortable on hot days as the room AC can’t cool down a tent with open windows. - Some equipment and structure in room and hotel needs refurb. - Game drives were not as successful as the ones we had at Kapama, but we did saw the big 5 after 4 drives. The afternoon drive seem to leave a bit too early for the summer time, maybe 30min later would be better. - Food/Beverage options a bit more limited than I expected for the price paid. Food was tasty though! - Avoid self driving - I got there with a tiny rented car but it can be a bit dangerous as it is quite isolated with several kms of unpaved road.

The Simbavati Hilltop Lodge is a very special location. Since the first minute we felt in love with this beautiful place within the Kruger Nationalpark. Welcomed by Brad, Caroline and the team directly let us felt at home. Our Lodge had a view into the wild. Lying on the day bed on the balcony was so relaxing. And we even could spot Giraffes and other wildlife. The Lodge itself was equipped with everything that is needed. Also the bathroom with the tube with a view and the outdoor shower was so special. Daniel was taking care of us during breakfast, lunch and dinner. By the way: the meals are incredible and Daniel is also a good bar tender. Always good for a joke. Rudolf and Thabo, our Game Drive driver and tracker, where incredible. They tried to fullfill all the wishes and yes, we saw the Big 5. Rudolf explained a lot about the animals and answered every question. Thanks again to the Simbavati Hilltop Lodge team for this "Once in a lifetime" experience.
