facilities and food was superb

Everything! Very comfortable room and fabulous reception space - huge barn-like sitting area, pool table. Restaurant offered option of eating inside or out and food was first class and service to complement. Pool looked amazing (but just a bit chilly and too tired to use it). A treat and very good value.

Only caveat. We thought - from descriptions and photos on Booking.com - we had booked a mezzanine room so our son would be on separate floor, but hadn't. Was OK for the single night, and the hotel does have several mezzanine rooms. Just make sure!

Breakfast great and very kind staff

The building is a beautiful old manor and has very peaceful surroundings. The pool is a good size with lots of space to relax.

The room was very dusty and not very clean. The shower was covered in lime stains and mold around the edges. The mattrass cover was completely the wrong size and seemed very, very old. Same goes for all the furniture in the restaurant, all stained and just due for replacement/refurbishment. Breakfast was relatively expensive (for France) but there was no fresh coffee or juice. Very limited (this is not very weird in France, but the quality was also lacking) in choices and a lot of items were gone. Wifi was non-existent in the room, impossible to do anything on our phones, connection was good in the reception/lounge area.
