Sepilok Jungle Resort

Breakfast was good. Pool was relaxing and location was within walking distance to the sun bear and orangutans

Location and night walk

Amazing location and surroundings, right in the rainforest. Saw orangutans in the grounds which absolutely made my stay. Food i had was fine.

It's very rustic, so be prepared. Buildings are very dated so don't expect great facilities. Also there is nothing in sepilok beside rainforest and places to stay (which is what I wanted!) but you probably wouldnt want to stay there longer than a couple of nights. Was great to have a pool in that jungle heat but there are only about 10 beds / chairs - nowhere near enough for a building that size when people are desperate for a bit of cool! Fan basically just moves the warm air around. But all these things are bearable for the wildlife!

So close to the orang utan center that they may show up at the jungle resort - we saw them while swimming in the pool. Everything (sun bear center, orang utan center, rainforest discovery center) are all pretty close, but especially for RDC a car is helpful (~30min roadside walking)

Room was rather dark (which may be due to the dark wood)

Rooms are not like in the pictures. Older, not super clean, with smell of humidity. Water did not work for the whole afternoon without any warning. When we first spoke in the reception, they tried to say it was our fault. When water did work at end of afternoon it came out brown. Both days this happened without any explanation or warning from the staff. For the price paid, we expected a cleaner space.
