YHA Ilam Hall

Loved the location and the grounds. It is stunning. The price was good. It is cheaper to use booking.com than it is to go direct. The facilities were good considering how old the place is. . It did what I needed it to.

Didn't like the lack of staff. Took a long time to check in and even longer to check out . The chef checked us out in the end. We were mean to have a 6 bed family room. We had an 8 bed which meant space was tight. But beds were plentiful. One shower and one sink didn't work.

Ilam Hall was amazing, from the house and grounds to the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. Breakfasts were lovely with plenty of choice and enough to keep you full while out walking in this beautiful area. The rooms were lovely and clean and the beds were lovely and comfy- some reviews had said the mattresses were thin (which they were compared to house mattresses) but they were very dense and comfortable. The shower in my room was excellent. I cant think of anything negative to say. I would happily stay here again.

WIFI was poor - but that meant we had a real break from phone calls and messages.

Beautiful setting. We felt safe as a family. The beds were a good size.

There was no hot water. The kitchen needed a clean. The bedroom carpet needed a clean. The shower smelt mouldy; very overpowering when we opened the door.
